Ironhack

Ironhack was a great experience, I have always had a passion for web development and through the course, I was able to take my skills to a new level. I highly recommend the boot camp to anyone who wants to make a career change.

The facilities are extremely nice and very accommodating, and the management team does a great job keeping the place clean and looking great. While in class you will have to work very hard, there will be long days and long nights, but nothing worth doing is ever easy. The instructors and the TA’s are extremely helpful and accommodating they will sit down with you and help you get through any issue you have with your code.

Once you graduate you will get job placement assistance from Brito, remember the name he is kind of a legend. Through his efforts, Ironhack graduates participate in a hiring fair filled with companies looking to hire new talent, follow his lead and do as he says and your chances of landing the life-changing job will skyrocket.

It won’t be easy but it will be worth it, and the entire Ironhack team will be there to help you along the way.

Ironhack proved to be a really good move for me. I was a career changer from finance, and wasn't sure what to expect going in. When you start, you are thrown into the mix of something completely foreign to you. But that's a good thing. 

While the first two weeks were extremely hard to adapt, it seemed to get easier over time. Mostly because you start to build a foundation of skills and understanding that compound and reinforce the rest of the new things you learn. Education 10/10.

Career is probably the strongest area that Ironhack has, at least in Miami the support is phenomenal. Brito is a good reason to attend Ironhack on his own. Becoming a developer with no work experience is hard, no way around it. But the techniques and direct connections that he brings to the table are world class. Career assitance 10/10.

That brings us to why you would attend a bootcamp in the first place, after all everything taught here is available online. Community is everything. So many people attempt to go down this road and fail, not because they can't do it, but because they aren't held accountable. Going to Ironhack will give you that push to do what you have to do and learn much more quickly than you would on your own. Community 10/10.

Having gone to Ironhack with -1 experience in web development, I learned all the necessary skills to become a software developer and change my career into technology. This includes the most important skill which is to learn how to "learn" new material as technology advances. 

I must thank the staff for being extremely patient with my lack of experience and transitioning me into a working professional in the tech industry. The classroom environment was very accommodating, comfortable, and intimate where you build relationships with the instructors and assistants, including your classmates. Everyone helped each other during and after classes. Towards the end of the cohort, Ironhack became more of a family to me and will forever be a part of the Ironhack family. 

Towards the end of the bootcamp, Ironhack provides career services and a career week/hiring fair that prepares students to deal with real companies that are looking to hire candidates. This is very useful in my experience to get better prepared to land a job. Thanks to Ironhack and its staff, I landed my first tech job straight out of the bootcamp during the career week! 

In summary, if I can do it, so can you!

If you're a person looking to get into the world of tech, then Ironhack is for you. My time at Ironhack provided me with the right instructors, resources and networking opportunities. 

There are two things I really took away from this bootcamp:

1) Ironhack taught me how to learn. It provided me with the ability to actually keep up with technical terms and made learning new things post camp a lot more efficient. 

2) Their career services are a real confidence booster. We tend to fall victim to imposter syndrome in this field, but Ironhack really does a great job in keeping their students grounded and focused in reaching our goals. 

I fortunately have now landed a job and can honestly say that our career services brought me that opportunity. Ironhack really is an effective coding bootcamp. 

I have always had a passion for developing and creating applications. I had some front-end experience under my belt, but I never understood how to build a scalable full-stack application before joining Ironhack. When I graduated from Ironhack, my foundation was set. I now feel like I can learn anything when it comes to web development. 

If you are thinking about Ironhack, I suggest you take it 100%. But let me tell you, it will not be easy. You have to put in long days and even nights to keep up with the rapid pace of the material. You get back what you put into the course.

For career placement, Brito does an amazing job helping you through the course to get everything you need to graduate and get rolling fast into the real world. He will guide you every step of the way until you land that first job offer. 10/10 if you're coming in and want a job right after graduating. 

Positives:

-Project focused. In 9 weeks we have done a great number of projects. Very little theory and a lot of practice.

-Broad Programme. We have covered a lot of different topics, starting with Design Thinking, finishing with Information Architecture and animations.

-Great Space. The campus is really cool with lots of places to work from and you do feel like the place belongs to students.

Negatives:

-Minimal Teaching. I really wish there were more explanations and showcase good examples. I felt like 1.5hrs of teaching every other day was not enough. Most of the stuff we had to learn ourselves, so not sure what I've €7,500 paid for.

-My UI skills have not improved. Even though, UI is only a part of the UX process I do believe that we spent very little time on it. In total maybe around 5 hrs was spent on teaching UI concepts, definitely not enough to grow your knowledge/skills.

-Unprofessional TAs . From week 3-4 the attitude of some of the TAs towards the students was just unacceptable. Some members of IronHack stuff publicly made offensive comments about our class, which is just atrocious. 

Overall:

-Would not recommend, this experience was not worth this large sum of money. You better of reading some UX case studies online and try to replicate their process applying to your own ideas. The outcome in terms of knowledge and portfolio case studies would probably be higher than after this course. 

The Bootcamp at Ironhack was my first contact with code and it was a good and intensive experience!

In 9 weeks of bootcamp we went through a lot of concepts and each of us experience a differente time of adaptation to develop our mental skills in order to understand how to code. So some people can learn faster than others and of course, the effort you put into will have a big impact on your progress.

It is focused on practical labs everyday and we develop curriculum by doing three big projects.
Despite being a Full-stack course I think that we'll be more prepared to be a Front-end developer.

By the end of the bootcamp we had a great hiring fair organized by Ironhack, where we met 12 amazing companies in two days.
Before the fair we have a preparation for interview questions, technical challenges, and we work on our attitude, pitch and cv to better face the companies.

One of this companies made me an offer which I was happy to accepted!

My time at Ironhack was tough. I was challenged and brought to the brink of mental exhaustion over the 9-week period. However, throughout that time, I learned a lot about UX/UI Design as well as myself. I came in expecting to learn mostly about UI Design and Front-End Development, but the course is heavily focused on UX Design (if you don't know the difference I suggest you look it up). In addition to this, I would say that those looking for a quick fix (and this is true of all bootcamps), expecting to come in and leave an all-knowing master, are in for a surprise. What I will say is that you will undoubtedly learn a lot and enough to land a job as a Junior UX/UI Designer, but what you get out of the course is solely based on how much effort you put in. Thankfully for me, a nervous interviewer, there was also a career services portion once I completed the course, which helped me tremendously in providing practice for interviews and working on my softskills, as well as, meeting a handlful of companies during the hiring fair. On another note, the facilities at the Miami campus are nice (except the uncomfortable chairs in the UX/UI classroom), and the staff is friendly and treats you like family. Overall, despite the rough ride, I received 4 job offers total and the risk I took in quitting my job and joining Ironhack paid off.

I couldn't be happier with my experience at Ironhack. From start to finish it was a truly awesome experience! 

The workload is extreme and the material challenging but it is a highly rewarding experience were you are rewarded for pushing yourself. Thankfully the atmosphere is extremely friendly with amenities galore to make yourself more comfortable. I spent most of the course working outside on the beautiful rooftop astroturf patio. 

My instructor Nico was a very committed teacher who would personally invest in any problems you were working on, help you realize your vision and work with you to find a solution. Anything answers he didn't have, he knew how to find them! In general Nico was great person who was easy talk to and made you feel comfortable throughout the learning process.

The curriculum itself is well thought-out and constantly changing. You really feel you are learning whatever technology is the most relevant. It was a frequent topic of conversation how many of us who went to college (even some Computer Science majors) couldn't believe how much more we were learning in such a short time compared to our drawn out struggles with traditional universities. Struggles that ultimately left us feeling unprepared for the real world...and robbed!

Ironhack attracts plenty of motivated people who are a pleasure to be in class with. The sense of camaraderie is strong and It feels good to be in deep with the your fellow classmates. We all worked hard together, helped each other out and bonded over struggling with the same difficult sections.

Thankfully Ironhack was good about making sure there are some unwinding opportunities. Lisa and Jess did an excellent job of keeping the energy up and organizing much needed stress relief moments that gave everyone an opportunity to unplug, eat some pizza and drink a little beer (or kombucha).

Finally Brito is there to make sure we stayed focused on the reason most of us joined the course: To get jobs! Brito helped us prioritize what's important in terms of our future careers. He has tons of extremely useful experience in terms of what companies are looking for when hiring talent. He makes us looks good and gives us pro tips on building out resumes and our Linkedins. 

Brito also does an excellent job bringing in tech veterans to share their knowledge with us. We've had speakers talk to us about the hiring process, the tech world, problems we may face, and even set up mock technical and soft skill interviews. If you have a specific interest in something in particular Brito will connect you with someone from his MASSIVE and beautifully organized list of tech contacts and Ironhack alum. Brito works very hard and is constantly finding new opportunities for graduates to pursue.

Prior to Ironhack I was exhausting myself working as a cook and making next to nothing.  As someone who is now happily working as a web developer, signing up for Ironhack was one of the smartest moves I've ever made. It feels great to finally have a career with independence, where my intelligence is rewarded and my employer can see the value I provide daily. For anyone on the fence, I really couldn't recommend Ironhack any stronger. It's worth it.

My experience at Ironhack was intense, with thankfully more ups then downs, and I leave confident that I'm ready to start as a Junior Web Developer in the market.

The first weeks were certainly very overwhelming for me, who never seen nothing regarding code until starting to study the "pre-work" that we had, weeks before the Bootcamp even started. The team informed us about the intensity and the challenges we would face, and they were very right! However, they were always following us to let us know we were not alone. 

The idea to have projects at the end of every module is great to solidify our knowledge and give us confidence that we can built awesome stuff, as well as start working on our portfolio and have something to tell recruiters when the time comes.

The teachers were very supportive and pushed us a lot during classes, in a way we had to face every challenge ahead of us, but knowing that we would have great people to support us. 

One of the main focus of the Bootcamp is to get us ready for the market. We had several different workshops about building our CVs and LinkedIn profiles, practising for regular and technical interviews and great opportunities to visit companies and see offices and developer teams in action. It is something really interesting that hyped us to get out there and start applying for jobs!

Overall, those were 10 weeks that changed my life. It changed my way of facing problems, working in teams, dealing with pressure, organise myself and gave me many tools to work as a web developer, with technologies and languages that are up to date with what the market asks.

I would definitively recommend this experience for those who are ready to invest time and effort to change their careers and get into this world.

The Ironhack Bootcamp was one of the wisest choices I have made. It was super intense and I was dead beat when it was over but it WAS worth it.

I recommend it to someone who is a career changer, just like me. Since Lisbon is a new Ironhack campus, they are learning by doing(as we are) and we were the first Bootcamp for Web Development.

We finished the Bootcamp with three projects we can show around to employers and after a hiring fair which I believe is one of the strongest points of Ironhack, compared to other Bootcamps I've heard about. THey are really committed and they stay on top of the students even after the Bootcamp is over to make sure everyone is already on the way t a life as a developer!

I recommend the staff, which is amazing and always worried about getting the most out of the students and the program. They are caring and listen to our worries. They really put their hearts into it.

Being a former journalist, I made a long research before deciding to attend the first web dev bootcamp of Ironhack in Lisbon in March 2019. Making a career change is a complex move and I wanted to be sure that I was choosing the best course to help me get where I wanted professionally. Now that I have graduated, I can say with absolute certainty that Ironhack was the best choice I could've made. I had great teachers and amazing fellow students, awesome support from the Ironhack crew and the career services team, that is such an important part of the bootcamp that I cannot stress enough how important it was for me to know it existed before making my final choice to do this bootcamp with Ironhack. The curriculum they offer is definitely the best among the bootcamps in Portugal. If you're searching for a life-changing experience, learning by doing and entering the job market knowing that you have learned the best and most up-to-date technologies, I highly recommend investing your time and money in this bootcamp.

The Web Development bootcamp at Ironhack is a very challenging yet rewarding program. I had some professional experience with front-end development before Ironhack, but was completely unfamiliar with the MERN stack. Our instructor, Niko, did a great job during the 9 weeks; answering all of our questions and helping us when we got stuck. The course is very hands-on and project oriented. You start with basic HTML/CSS and then move on to Express.js and React.js. Students build a portfolio which they later showcase to potential employers. 

Once you graduate, Ironhack helps you find a job with their Career Services program. Daniel Brito is the man and helps you with everything; from what to wear to the interview, to how to correctly format your resume. With his guidance and a portfolio the opportunities are endless!

If you are looking to transition into technology I recommend this program!

Ironhack has been a great  experience for me. I am coming from Mechanical engineering background with no experience in coding at all. The program is definitely immersive and demanding, but when you have great "Front-End"  (Instructor, TA's) , and amazing "Back-End" (Career manager, program manager and many more), your path to success as Full-Stack -Developer is guarantee.
The curriculum also includes career workshops which include technical interviews preparation, how to build a winning resume, how to update your Linkedin profile and many more valuable information and tips that are really important for your success in this market.

I came to Ironhack with a little previous programming experience in both Java and JavaScript, so I knew what I was getting myself into. Ironhack's tech stack (MERN - MongoDB, Express, React, NodeJS) is modern and frequently used in the industry.

The staff was nice and the classroom environment was good for learning. Niko, our instructor, knows his stuff. 

The real difference, however was in the Career Services. Our Career Services manager, Brito, was excellent! He setup and managed the hiring fair with 20+ companies, some large and some small.

Without the career services, I wouldn't be where I am today - a Front-End Web Developer at Carnival Cruise Line!
