Insight Data Science

I made the great learning - MIT PE, Data science for decision making. The content was outstanding, the GL platform, combined with MIT knowledge, made learning simple and efficient. As CTO managing a Data Scientist team, I can definitely tell I learnt very interesting things, the pedagogy is also very efficient (I'm a self learner and it enhances independence in learning)

Are you new to data science? Are you really interested in this field? Is this the right bootcamp for me? I will try to answer these questions based on my experience as one of Dibimbing Data Science Bootcamp's students. If you're someone who is looking to switch careers to data science and wants to get a good grasp and start in the data science world, then this is the PERFECT bootcamp for you! But if you're expecting to become a 'job-ready' data scientist after graduating, then it's a BIG NO. Although Dibimbing claims that several people have gotten a job as a 'DS' after graduating, I believe those people are rare, hard-working individuals who have learned not just in this bootcamp but also on their own. The most important thing is your intention and willingness to learn; the bootcamp is just a tool. My suggestion is to try learning on your own first for about six months to test your intention. You will know if you love it or hate it.


So, have you already decided that this field is perfect for you? Good! Now let's discuss this bootcamp. This bootcamp is really beginner-friendly; they literally teach you from zero, covering the basics of Python, SQL, etc., making it very suitable for people who don't know anything about programming and are complete beginners. But the pace is very fast; you learn the basics of Python (a.k.a. 'My first hello world') today, and tomorrow you will learn data structures. So if you truly don't know anything about programming and data science, you are most likely to get left behind. Again, my suggestion is to try learning on your own first at your own pace for a while to test your intention and to get familiar with programming and data science before joining a bootcamp.


With the money you spend on this bootcamp, the facilities you get are very worth it. You will have professional mentors, a job connector program, interview practice, exercises, etc. Remember, the bootcamp is just a tool; the most important thing is your commitment and intention.

One important tip : ask the Dibimbing customer service about the data science syllabus and try to use it as a 'curriculum' to learn on your own first.

I applied for the program several months ago and was interviewed by one of Insight’s interviewers, ‘Matt.’ About 10 minutes into the call, Matt jumped into an immediate negative assessment of my interview performance after asking when I last coded professionally. 

I then asked a series of questions about the program, which he perfunctorily answered  and directed me to read Insight’s FAQ. 

Matt then asked if I was recording the conversation, with no reasons offered for his line of questioning. (I was not recording the conversation and informed him that I was not.). He then proceeded to speak on an off tangent and again stated that if I were recording the conversation, it was not allowed. (I had already stated I was not recording the conversation, and was unsure why he kept pursuing this line of questioning).

I’m not certain what impression Insight wishes to leave with prospective candidates, but it was not a good one for me.  I will not be pursuing this poorly run program as a result, and will not be recommending it to any of my friends or colleagues.
