The course was full of practical content coming from latest technologies used in industry. I have to put my 120% to learn new things covered in the course. it started from basic things like html and css and ended up with django and mysql. Real project and being hands-on through the course helped me to upskill quickly.
Joel, our main instructor, has an incredible depth of technical skills, particularly in software development. His ability to break down complex concepts into manageable lessons made a significant impact on my learning experience. I took the User Experience Design Immersive course in 2018 and had a great time! We learned the foundations of UX design and worked together in groups to apply our learnings to various projects. We even worked directly with a client at the end of the course. I left the course with 5 different case studies that I was able to showcase in my interviews for UX Design roles after graduation. 

Tyler Hartrich, Neil Kahn, and Carly Liebman were supportive instructors and made the class feel like a little family. Thank you all for creating an engaging learning environment for us! 

If you're making a career change like I did, taking a bootcamp like this one at GA is a great way to start by learning with likeminded people from different backgrounds and really gain knowledge needed for your first UX role. I thoroughly enjoyed my time at GA. With 4 projects within 3 months, these were a good start to having a portfolio upon graduation. Naturally, that depended on your effort and diligence throughout the project duration. The pace was pretty fast with a project week after every two weeks of classes, but that served to stretch my learning capabilities. The course covers the basics of full-stack software development. There is definitely a lot more to learn in the tech industry, but it’s a good stepping stone for mid-career switchers. Read less

I recently completed the Software Engineering Bootcamp at General Assembly and it has been an extraordinary journey. Very tough, but definitely worth it.  

From day one, the course was well structured and a nice balance between theory and practical, hands-on projects. The curriculum is well-designed, covering a wide range of topics, from basic programming concepts to complex algorithms and data structures. My instructor was exceptional. They were able to bring their previous experience into the classroom and give us some good tips and tricks on how our days will work when we are a developer. They were always available for one-on-one sessions, to answer questions and provide guidance on projects.


Another highlight of the program was the collaborative environment. I was initially skeptical that an online program would be particularly engaging but we worked closely with others in the class, and have even met with them in person after the course finished. We worked on numerous group projects big and small that simulated real software development scenarios. 
In conclusion, The skills, confidence, and connections I've gained are invaluable. I highly recommend this program to anyone looking to make a significant impact in their professional life. Read less

Wow is all I can say. General Assembly is quite possibly one of the most accommodating, inclusive and accessible companies I've ever come across. If you are applying and are worried about achieving this course, as it is quite intense, please do not fret. JUMP! Apply! I received endless help, understanding, and accommodation throughout my course and completed it with flying colours.
The student success team, Joanna and Somerset, are who will assist with anything you may need and they are INCREDIBLE.
The instructors are understanding and willing to help and give that extra time to you if you need it.

I had already been taking some self guided studies in the software engineering domain for a few months prior to applying for GA but decided paying to do their program would be the quickest pathway to obtaining my first job in the field. Given the knowledge I had already obtained prior to the bootcamp commencing, I was initially a little frustrated with the basic content in the first two weeks but when I flagged this with my instructor he was more than happy to give me additional reading and content to study while the class covered the first unit. It was all up hill from here though and the next 10 weeks I found myself allocating easily 60 hours a week to study (including class time/homework and my own additional exploration). Some days I felt dizzy from the amount of info I was trying to retain but building the project at the end of each unit was very fun and rewarding. My teacher (dt) was incredible and excelled at helping students get the most out of such a short term program. The careers team were also very helpful in providing a framework and support to help you get that first job. It took me a further 3 months of hustling every day and nearly 180 job applications to land my first job but here I am writing this 12 months from starting the course, in a permanent job as a fully remote software developer and I couldn't be happier.

The bootcamp is everything you need to get yourself up to speed in terms of data science competency.
Being a bootcamp, there are some assumptions that you need to know upfront:

• It will be FAST paced! It is a bootcamp after all. It will feel like cramming a few uni semesters into one.
• You need to have some competency in Python and A level/uni maths.
• Commit the ENTIRE 3 months to this course. Pretty much doesn’t leave much time for anything else.

Having said that, the course materials are very comprehensive and instructors very supportive. 
Career coach is also very helpful, though of course only as helpful as the effort that you put in yourself.
There’s just a few areas that the course is lacking, which is understandable due to its short duration:

• More comprehensive SQL. The bootcamp only touhes it superficially, though the industry seems to emphasise on this.
• Data visualisation softwares. Qlik/Tableau/Power BI is not covered at all, but will be a huge bonus if you have some competency.

Overall, HIGHLY RECOMMENDED if you’re looking to do a career switch or to gain data science competency. Read less

I attended General Assembly's bootcamp, and while my instructor was knowledgeable and supportive, I experienced disappointment with their job placement promises. Initially, I was led to believe that landing a job post-graduation would be more immediate. However, the reality was different. They often cited minor reasons, like not responding to one of their messages, to avoid accountability for job placement. Despite being punctual and diligently completing all requirements for over a year, I found their commitment to securing employment opportunities somewhat lacking. It's crucial for prospective students to approach their expectations with a realistic perspective on post-graduation outcomes.I wouldn't have enrolled in the course at General Assembly if they hadn't assured me of a job guarantee. The promise of post-graduation employment heavily influenced my decision to purchase the course. However, the disparity between their assurances and the actual job placement process left me feeling misled and dissatisfied with the overall experience. Clear communication and realistic expectations are essential when making decisions about educational investments, and unfortunately, the initial commitment to guaranteeing a job did not align with the outcome. General Assembly stands out as outstanding bootcamp learning partner. I had a genuinely rewarding experience in completing the JavaScript Development bootcamp with General Assembly Australia. The instructors were exceptional in delivering concepts and put in great effort in practical demonstration of course. Code-alongs, class exercises and challenging home assignments made a positive impact towards my learning. The feedback and support was always available from my instructor and TA's, which helped me in developing my skills and overcome any issues. 12-week fastpaced bootcamp focused on drilling in the bare essentials to function professionally as a web2 engineer/developer, with the knowledge easily extendable to general software development with a little bit of extra studying. Instructors were knowledgeable and enthusiastic, even when I asked about topics outside the scope of the bootcamp, which provided me direction to explore on my own. Career coaches were also very helpful and responsive and provided constructive advice on how I should approach my job search. I do wish, however, that there had been more meet and greet events open to us to aid in job search as the one we had was the best way, in my opinion, to get a company to view us. Read less

As an Overall Review of GA's UXDI Immersive --
For GA's UXDI Immersive, you're thrown headfirst into a crazy 40+ hour/week commitment with barely any time to take a breath of fresh air. Now, this seems daunting (and it absolutely is), but if you go into this program with the mindset that you want to succeed, that you want to get as much out of this program as you possibly can before those brief 12 weeks are up, then you'll be fine -- I can guarantee it. I cannot emphasize enough how important it is that you will only get as much out of this boot camp as you're willing to put in. You will not be hand-held the entire time, you will be expected to execute design projects in incredibly short amounts of time (but they don't have to be perfect (!!) just backed with good research). While it is okay that you aren't able to get to some of the additional reading material, know that your willingness to absorb and apply everything you learn will make you a better UX'er. You must (as cheesy as it sounds) become one with the course material and the applications.

Something that could be improved --
There are a handful of things that I think this course, or at least my experience with the course, could have been improved upon. One prominent one is pacing. The first 4 weeks of the course are a whirlwind of information. It's like getting thrown into the ocean with just a panel of wood to keep you afloat. Towards the latter half of the course, while I appreciated the vast amounts of "Workshop Time", I would have liked it even more to have other lessons sprinkled throughout the rest of the course to further enhance my UX/UI skills, or just to learn more about how UX fits into different industries.

Other Key Takeaways --
It is no secret (if you've done your research) that GA is one of the most expensive boot camps out there. This is why I mentioned that you have to be ready to really (no pun intended) immerse yourself into the program and be like a super sponge to really get your value's worth.

I was fortunate to have a wonderful career coach, Amber. She wasn't just a coach, she was also a mentor to me as I searched for jobs and eventually completed a design challenge. I am so grateful for her help and guidance, but I also know that no two people's experiences are the same.  Read less

General Assembly's Software Engineering Immersive (remote) has far exceeded my expectations of what a bootcamp can do for its students.  Over the course of 12 weeks, I learned more than I possibly could have imagined on day one with incredible support from my instructors, TAs, and outcomes coach.  These instructors really care about your success and prepare you not just to be a good software engineer, but a great employee who can work independently and actively contribute to a team.  Would suggest this bootcamp to anyone interested in coding but would highly recommend you try some coding lessons independently first to make sure this is a field you want to dive into.   10/10 experience, it will forever change my life. My experience with GA was amazing! My instructors were all incredibly knowledgable, welcoming, and always available for my cohort. I was able to grasp the skills within the 3 months and the projects helped to build my portfolio that would later help me land a job. The teaching style was moderately fast paced but having helpful instructors that were always fine answering questions or slowing down when needed was great to have. My career coach was also very helpful in my development into this new space. He helped me with interview practice and building my personal brand. Big shoutout to our instructors - Ben Manley, David Stinson, William Hunter Long, Ian Terada, and Joe Malatesta - for their crazy cool support and in-depth explanations. Each brought their own unique style to teaching, making complex topics digestible and relatable. I've got to give a special mention to Hunter; thanks to his help during our group project, I felt like a real software developer for the first time in my life. And Joe's wisdom - "never call yourself a bad developer, and never allow anyone to call you that" - has become my personal mantra.
