Flatiron School offers immersive on-campus and online programs in software engineering, data science, cybersecurity, and artificial intelligence. Flatiron School’s immersive courses aim to launch students into fulfilling careers by providing a robust career services framework and dedicated one-on-one coaching post graduation that is included as an added value with the tuition.

The application process asks prospective students to share a bit about themselves and what is driving them to start a career. The process includes speaking with an Admissions representative in a non-technical interview to allow for the opportunity to get to know each other better in a friendly conversation. Applicants will also need to complete a 15-minute critical thinking and problem-solving assessment afterwards. Applicants will receive an acceptance decision from Admissions within 4 business days of completing the assessment.

Flatiron School’s Career Services team provides weekly 1:1 career coaching sessions, mock interviews, and access to an extensive employer network to help students launch fulfilling careers in tech after graduation.

Flatiron School powers the Access Scholarship which invested $1.5 million into the futures of more than 500 students across all of Flatiron School’s campuses and online courses in 2020. The Access Scholarship opens doors for aspiring innovators who may have experienced barriers to education. To build a more diverse and inclusive tech community, Flatiron School has awarded over $10 million in scholarships for women, minorities, veterans, and other underrepresented groups in tech.

Flatiron School was one of the first bootcamps in the industry and a pioneer in providing 3rd party examined job placement reports. Read their full independently-examined jobs reports at: https://flatironschool.com/jobs-reports/

    Greater school not supportive

I wish I could recommend the flatiron school but I really can't in good conscious do that. I attended the data science program near the start of the pandemic, expecting to start remote and move to in-person soon. Obviously the move to in-person never happened, and while that part is understandable, the school's lack of effort in supporting us through this change was saddening.

While many schools around the country reduced tuition and gave partial refunds for experiences that are m...

The Flatiron School helped me change my life

My employment background had always been blue collar; largely construction, factory work, some retail. I always had an interest in tech and greatly envied my friends who were in the field, while I was working 14 hour shifts overnight in a massive factory. I did abysmally in high school and never attended college, so for years I told myself this is as good as it gets. Boy was I wrong. I wish I did this earlier.

I learned about Flatiron from a friend who broke into the industry from...

Flatiron is the little engine that couldn't

At face value, Flatiron's promises and guarantees (such as the money back guarantee) seem flawless. Flatiron seems like a reputable school with great values and, with hundreds of great reviews online, there's no reason to believe otherwise.

    Instructors:
We were promised lead instructors and assistants.

Three days into the bootcamp, every single lead instructor on my campus quit. We were then taught by TAs that apologized for their lectures because they ...

    Disorganized Admissions

I can't comment on the curriculum or instructors but honestly, my overall experience thus far has been a disaster.  The python entrance exam for starters is wrong.  How do I know? I was running the code in an IDE, and, if I'm seeing the output that matches what they are looking for, it's a pretty good indicator.  After this, I had to do a "technical interview" since I had failed the exam, which I was done within 5 minutes.  When I told the interviewer I had "failed" the Python portion he...

If you want your hard work to pay off attend Flatiron

When I started the Software engineering bootcamp at Flatiron I wasn't super sure about my decision to change my career. A lot of the stories I had heard about people going to bootcamps and changing there lives seemed to good to be true, and to a degree they are. Nothing about going to a bootcamp is easy and none of the payoffs are as insane as they sound. A bootcamp is not as intense a transition as some of these testimonials make it out to be. For me it felt like a pretty smooth transit...

    Amazing experience!

I could not be more grateful for, or proud of, my experience and time at Flatiron School! I was in the Full-Time Online Software Engineering program and could not have been more impressed. From the pre-work studies, to the bootcamp curriculum, to career coaching after graduation--Flatiron truly goes above and beyond in everything they do. Great Foundational Knowledge

While nothing is perfect - and Flatiron certainly has areas in which it has room to improve - I'm incredibly grateful for the Access Labs experience. I had zero coding experience before starting the process and can build a full-stack app upon graduating. I've gotten a taste of what other, elite bootcamps offer and doubt that I would've been able to get into them without prior experience. Flatiron turned my life upside down

Coming in to Flatiron School, I was incredibly excited. I had committed myself to following my dream of becoming a UX Researcher and Designer (which was a big mental undertaking for me, truly going for what I knew I’d be good at, versus development where I “manage”). I couldn’t afford the tuition, and my credit wasn’t good enough for a loan or ISA program, so when I got a call on February 4th that I had been awarded a scholarship thanks to NexTech’s “100 Innovators in Tech” program, I co...

My overall experience with Flatiron has been extremely positive.
I have learned so much in such a short amount of time. After I graduated I worked with my career coach for one month and landed an incredible job at a software development company doing UX/UI Design.

The course is really tough and you will have to be a self-motivator and a self-starter to get through it. There is not really anyone holding you accountable for your learning so you will only get what you put in. Yo...

My time at Flatiron was one of the best experiences of my life. I was constantly pushed and learning new things. Instant Success with Flatiron

Flatiron was great for me. Because it is self-paced, the online program allowed me to start slow while I was working full time and ramp up once I resigned from my job to focus on the program. Every person I encountered from instructors to coaches to fellow students was nice and helpful. I found the progression of the curriculum logical and, even after starting with little programming experience, I was able to complete projects independently. I landed a job within a month of graduating. I...

    Not a legitimate company.

I was a student before deciding to try another coding bootcamp. Flatiron was fined by the NY Attorney General in 2017 for operating without a license and inflating their data on employment figures. For a school that teaches data science, it’s awfully shady that they wrongfully publish deceptive statistics. The instructors also come across as nonchalant and greedy, without an actual care about others. Avoid this school at all costs.
