Emerging Digital Academy is an immersive 20-week Full Stack Engineering bootcamp in Fargo, North Dakota. The first 6 weeks of this bootcamp are held online and students must commit 15-25 hours each week. The remaining 14 weeks of the bootcamp are held full-time in person at the Emerging Digital Academy classroom in Fargo. The time commitment for this latter part of the bootcamp is up to 60 hours per week. Emerging Digital Academy updates their curriculum monthly for each new cohort to ensure that students are always learning the cutting edge of technology and industry best practices.
The bootcamp curriculum covers full stack JavaScript, HTML, CSS, Git, React, and Node.js. Bootcamp students will learn about databases, source control, back end servers, front end frameworks, and DOM manipulation with jQuery. Students will create several major portfolio pieces, including a solo project and team-built project for a real world client.
Emerging Digital Academy is designed for students with no prior coding experience. The initial 6 weeks of foundational learning will equip beginners with the coding skills they need to advance in the curriculum. The admissions committee looks for traits such as curiosity, the ability to persevere through failure, and commitment to personal growth in each potential applicant. Students are required to have their own personal laptop. Though not required, Emerging Digital Academy recommends a Mac running the latest OSX version. A laptop running Linux is also acceptable. Emerging Digital Academy provides all students with an extra monitor to use for the bootcamp’s duration.
Emerging Digital Academy teaches students soft skills, such as task prioritization, public speaking, teamwork, collaborative programming, and written communication. Bootcamp students receive assistance with job search skills, such as interview practice and career guidance. The bootcamp also features technical presentations from industry professionals, public presentations, mock interviews, and an on-site career day with employers who are hiring.
A limited number of Income Share Agreement plans are available for students who are not eligible for traditional financing. Scholarships and aid may also be available through the state of North Dakota or community partners.
