This 6 month bootcamp took me from not knowing how to write a single line of code in HTML or CSS, to creating a full-stack mobile  trivia application that talks to ChatGPT through the OpenAI API!! So, I would say I've come a long way. You also meet great people along the way that will help you get a job! Highly recommend for anyone looking to get into the business! Read less

If you are looking for a cyber security boot camp, this is it. You may stop your search! I was someone seeking a boot camp just as you are and came across Code Fellows. I can’t believe all that I have learned just in the first couple of months. I am someone who has no prior IT experience and have made leaps and bounds in progress, such as learning how to take control of your home network, running virtual machines, RDP, and entry level scripting. Cybersecurity at code fellows is one of the best in town. I have learnt a lot about cybersecurity, I have learn a lot about computers overall, I don't have background in IT, but I can tell you know, I can do a lot of computing now. I highly recommend Code Fellows to anyone looking to starting learning software development. I initially tried learning on my own, but I would always run into some road block that I couldn't surmount and would lose interest. When I finally took the leap and committed to the full time student program I did not run into any of those roadblocks, or if I did, I had the extremely talented staff and TAs there to help me resolve my issue.  Though the course if long, 6 months in all if you start at the 101 level, it is well worth the time because you graduate with a ton of hands-on experience doing projects. These projects can be added to resume and help you build out a portfolio that you can proudly show employers so that you are ready to start the job hunt as soon as you graduate.  Read less

Let me start with I was able to secure a job before I even graduated thanks to the skills that Code Fellows gave me. It is a really hard course but it is amazing and worth every second! The instructors are amazing and the lab/ coursework is constantly being updated to industry standard!  Read less

I attended and graduated from Code Fellows in july 2022. And have had mixed experiences with my job hunt since then. As a school code fellows does a good job of teaching you software development and programming fundamentals. But the courses lack some really important things, like a focused detail on test-driven development, In the classes, this is covered in 2 days with a gentle touch, then you are just expected to do it for every challenge and project from there on out. 

To learn the basics and fundamentals of programming I believe they do a fairly good job, but the curriculum and instruction are a little long in the tooth now. 
Beyond bringing in career professionals and past graduates to talk to the students, code fellows doesn't do a great job preparing you for the job hunt, sure you do interview practice, but only with other students meaning the feedback you receive can be a real mixed bag. They also don't do any practice negotiating for your salary (only telling you that its important and that you need to do it!) Sure you do algorithms and data structures, but they focus more on teaching you how to solve the problem itself, rather than how to recognize the patterns in the problems (this latter technique is what you need to successfully apply your knowledge to all sorts of different problems rather than just the one at hand).

On top of this, there is little or no focus on open-source work or professional project development. Outside of projects you create yourself, or ideas you manage yourself while in the program, you are unlikely to develop any truly marketable projects in the course. for example 

you may design a small game with javascript, or a music search engine, or a restaurant search engine. But you won't be developing a Redis Database management and monitoring tool. 

this later project is infinitely more interesting to employers and demonstrates a business mindset. That is not to say the earlier projects don't demonstrate your programming ability, because they certainly do, but a database (or another generalized enterprise tooling) would be much much more marketable. 

For instance, other modern boot camps now maintain collections of open source projects that the students commit to, this not only looks fantastic on a resume but allows the students to speak about truly technical projects and problems during their future interviews.

During the courses code fellows talks ALOT about their career accelerator program, which is their after-graduation support. Though I didn't participate in this myself (I had a feeling it would be lackluster) I have heard from fellow students I graduated with, that its a joke.
Apart from a weekly "how's it going" checkup, I have heard of no students who have been referred to a job though the program or even gotten an interview from it. 



To sum things up, 
If you want to learn to program, code fellows will do that. If you want to get a job in this career space, there are better programs out there with more modern studies and focus on creating marketable candidates.  Read less

if you keep a strong mental attitude and are open to stacked learning and how to learn it, this course is great. it will push you to work harder than you have had to but will be rewarding in the end. if you are coming here because you are choosing to pick something and stick to it this is the right school. you are given every tool and resource you need to pass and to further to succeed. you have to put in the work to get the rewards the school will not guarantee you a job but it will give you every opportunity for you to have the tools to get one  Read less

I started my tech transition from trucker to tech about a month before attending Code Fellows. I learned the basics on my own and was able to test into their 201 program, and attend 301 and 401 full stack JavaScript. I went from little knowledge in technology to a confident full stack developer with the ability to build, troubleshoot and deploy applications. I graduated in Feb of 2023 and I feel confident as I enter the job search. Read less

The course in iOS development I took at Codefellows genuinely prepared me for the work I have done over the past eight years. The majority of things I learned I still use daily or weekly, and the experience has stuck with me. I believe in the school and its mission. I know people who went to other boot camps and they were not nearly so well prepared for professional software development. 100% recommended. Read less

Im a proud air force vet that was looking to learn a new skill. I heard a lot of good things about code fellows, but before I even reached the point of enrollment I was blessed to have a conversation with Teri. She blew me away with her knowledge and ability to answer every question I had lined up, but it was her compassion and sincere interest in my goals that put me at ease. She told me about the school, but also the beautiful world of code. She also introduced me to the 100daysofcode challenge(look it up!). 1 phone call changed my life and this was before any class. This Bootcamp touches on everything that is relevant in the industry today. Incorporating technologies and tools to keep you sharp while looking for a position when you complete. You have lots of space and opportunity to grow and lots of support from peers, teaching assistants, and teachers. Everyone wants to see you learn and succeed. A very welcoming environment. Read less

The team of instructors, TA's, tutors, and administrative staff at Code Fellows provide a well-rounded experience in preparing anyone to become a qualified and capable Full-Stack Developer/Engineer. I not only know how to code: I know how to THINK like a programmer. I know how to work with other devs to build full-stack applications, even when that means utilizing entirely unfamiliar frameworks or concepts. I no longer approach new software concepts with an attitude of "I don't know" but instead I'm saying "I don't know YET but I'm well-poised to figure it out!".

I'm doing their Career Accelerator Program now that I'd graduated, but even while I was enrolled I was already able to take advantage of the alumni network to make connections at some of my target companies! Read less

Code fellows really helped me prepare for the job market. While a lot of courses friends went through showed them how to code. Code fellows helped me understand WHY we code. They helped me understand that it's better to know HOW to solve the problem conceptually, than how to code the solution. If you know the concepts behind solving the problem, it doesn't matter what language you are told to solve it in, you will be able to solve it. But if you only know how to code the solution in one language, it is infinitely more difficult to convert something from LANG A -> LANG B. 

The white boarding practice and preparation was phenomenal and the instructors obviously care so much about what they do. 

Stacked learning modules will fry your brain at first but you will find that after a few days that thing you learned 3 days ago suddenly clicks and BOOM! A whole new avenue opens up to you, those AH-HA moments will be frequent and you feel so good. 

There is also a vast network of Alum who are very happy to help you in your job search.

I researched alot of schools and decided on Code Fellows. I was excited to attend an in person course but due to Pandemic the school was shut down days before lockdown. I was hesitant on how online learning would be but its like CF had it all ready to go. Learning and tools are seamless and they've got every part of your learning planned out. Even Career coaching to get you started on your Journey. it was such a great experience for me and I made so many friends and lifelong connections along the way. I highly recommend Code Fellows to anyone wanting to start their journey into software development.  Read less

The Code Fellows experience was tough! They use what they call a ' stacked learning' technique where they constantly hit you with new concepts day to day. It can feel overwhelming. But after you go through it, you realize how much you've actually retained. I'd say it's pretty effective, although sometimes a bit stressful.  Read less

I attended Code Fellows from September of 2021 through May of 2022.  I completed the 102, 201, 301 and 401 in advanced JavaScript courses.  The entire time I was constantly impressed with the level of knowledge and more importantly the kindness of the entire staff.  That includes the program managers, the campus director, all the instructors and TA's as well.  I really put a lot of time and energy into selecting a boot camp that would work for me, now that I have graduated I can say I am 100% happy with my decision!!
