Excellent!

I completed JavaScript Full-Stack Online Mentored Bootcamp and it was really great journey. With zero experience I ended up with solid foundation to build almost any app. It wasn't easy, but very rewarding. You just have to follow the steps in process. I highly recommend it!

JavaScript Full-Stack Online Bootcamp

Barcelona Code School is an excellent place for those who are looking to learn web development in a short time with a real learning experience, the unique thing is that while you studying you have to pass challenges, and these challenges make you understand and become better in the programming. It was a good decision for me to join this bootcamp; now I am a full-stack developer ready for the job market.

They made me a developer

Guys, thank you for the amazing experience! I am going to continue working on my final app since I have so many ideas about what to add there. I wouldn't be where I am if it wasn't for you and your support. Great curriculum, explanations and challenges. You're the best!

Online bootcamp

I was looking for a coding bootcamp to learn how to build my app which I've had an idea for for a long time. These guys are awesome! You can implement your idea if you have one and they will follow you and give all the support even though my project was a bit out of the scope of the curriculum. They are always there for you, tracking your progress, sending feedback and guiding through. The personal sessions with the mentors were invaluable. Thanks a lot!

That was incredible

Oh, phew, no doubt two toughest months in my life :)) but I did it! This is incredible how far I've gone from being a complete noob to making my full web app. I was living, breathing and dreaming javascript and am super proud of what I have achieved. Of course I wouldn't be here without my mentors, their patience, guidance and constant availability helped a lot. What I also liked that there a videos for all the lectures and they are very helpful, because there is so much information that sometimes I needed to go back and refresh something from the previous section of the curriculum and it helped a lot, they are very step by step and explanatory.  To those who are thinking of taking the bootcamp I should say go for it and be prepared to learn much more than you'd expect. Yay!

Only 9 weeks and now I can build any ideas that come to my head

If you want to learn full-stack web development this is the place! Really happy with the outcome from the 9-week online Javascript course. The online course gives you the flexibility to work around other responsibilities. You have access to help at all times, the instructors are super friendly, knowledgeable and always willing to help with any issues you may have.I will say though that the 9-week option is pretty intense, so if you don't have any coding experience or have to miss a few days of class I would recommend to choose the 13-week option.

JavaScript Full Stack Developer Bootcamp

This is the ideal Bootcamp for both, people who want to switch their professional careers towards Web Development or people eager to learn about it. Everything is very well explained on their website before starting the course and they reply to any questions you may have or even can arrange a videocall before you sign up. Instructors really adapt to your needs, due to personal reasons I went for 16 weeks option (the longest) and obviously it still requires a lot of studying and  several hours every day,  but the course materials, the instructors availability to reply to any questions (full office hours)  and the 1:1 weekly meetings with the instructors support  and guide you throughout the whole course and beyond. If you are a beginner, besides the 2 weeks pre-course (my advice is to make it longer if possible), HTML, CSS, JavaScript, React, Express, Mongo, React Native can be very challenging but very rewarding in the end.I'd definitely recommend this school and/or course to anyone who is looking forward to learning Programming and all the languages previously mentioned.

One of the best decisions I've made

I've been trying to learn javascript on my one for months and it was slow and frustrating, often hitting dead end and got nobody to ask for help. This bootcamp changed my life -- tons of materials, video instructions, almost instant help for all my questions and personal sessions made a big difference for me. Those guys know what they are doing, god bless them!

Nice experience

I highly recommend the Javascript Full-Stack on-line mentored bootcamp! I went to the 9 week program and be prepared, it's hard! I came from a total different background, no I.T. experience, and had to study really hard to catch up. I also recommend to apply 2 weeks before the real bootcamp, so you can study the pre-course at your own pace and be fully prepared for the course. George and Stefano are great mentors and really helpful! I'm glad I took this course.

The bootcamp's program is flexible and adaptable to one's needs. The instructors are always willing to help and in weekly 1:1 sessions you can solve doubts and clarify concepts. Personally,  I think that this have been the best choice that I could ever take.

Awesome experience!

Doing the JavaScript Full-Stack Online Bootcamp through the Barcelona Code School was a fantastic decision. I had always been interested in pursuing a coding course, but I couldn't find the right one that would accommodate with my full-time work schedule. This course accomplished that for me. It was perfect for the type of work structure I needed, and the type of thought-provoking challenges I craved.I completed the part-time 16 week course; however, I actually far surpassed the 16 weeks in order to accomplish everything. With so much content, it took me awhile to gain my rhythm and dedicate the appropriate time to it. I actually spent most of my weekends working on everything, and I learned quickly that just because it was part time, it wasn't less intense. Yet, this is the great thing about this course: it allows you to set your own pace and work within your own time parameters.Additionally, George and Stefano are great instructors and really make efforts to communicate with you. They offer 1 on 1 meetings throughout the course, that are so valuable, and I wish I would have used them more. These meetings are fantastic to check-in and relieve any doubts you're having about the course, or ask questions and get assistance with any tasks. And believe me, you will have questions and doubts! Finally, the course material was definitely worth pursuing. The more I learned throughout this course, the more I actually looked forward to learning it and practicing it. I absolutely loved developing the HTML and CSS cloning projects, making my first static website, and learning the ins-and-outs of JavaScript, React, Express, and React Native. However, bringing it all together and creating my eCommerce website and weather app was so worthwhile and rewarding, that feeling of accomplishment you gain at the end. It wasn't by any means easy and there were more moments of frustration than I'd like to recall, but it was worth all the aches and pains.Overall, this course has benefited me in so many ways. It has allowed me to gain new skills, explore my creative/design side, utilize new tools and resources, and it has aided me in my professional quest by affording me many new work opportunities. For that, I am very happy with my decision to embark on this adventure! I would highly recommend this course to anyone looking for new professional opportunities, or to anyone simply looking to learn new things and/or express their creative side. It has been an awesome journey!

So I learnt React at last!

Really I had doubts about doing an online bootcamp, but this one hooked me since the first moment. The course has a lot of exercises and if you get stuck the teachers help you right away, so you don't lose motivation. In conclusion, it was a good experience.

JavaScript Full-Stack Part Time Online Bootcamp

One of the best decisions I made this year was to take this course.

Having allready been a front-end developer for around 10 years, with a focus on aesthetics, It was time to take the leap into the full stack and I'm so glad I did it here.

I allready have a job so I decided to take the part time 16 week course. There is alot of great content, but you do have to dedicate time to it. Just because its part time it doesn't really make it any less intense. I spent alot of evenings and weekends working away. However, if you are a busy person, the course timings allows you to take things at your own pace.

The course ciriculum was perfect. A quick intro to html & css and then the core of the course is Javascript. Then onto Express, node and React. Finishing with a dive into mobile development using skills learned from React and applying them to React Native.

George and Stefano are really, really good teachers. I was lucky enough to get to attend at the school in person for 1 week and everyone was very welcoming.

The 1-1's every week are so valuable. If you take the course I encourage you to book one in every week, wether its to check in, get help on a question or improve a task you are currently doing.

They make it clear that you can contact them anytime on Slack, but you don't really realise that until you start doing it. They are quick to respond, always happy and helpful.

I'm proud of the time spent doing this course and I encourage anyone else considering it, to take the leap, you are in good hands.

I live in Barcelon and did some research, after careful thought, this was the course I chose and I couldn't be happier.

Worst Code School

The course learning instructions are weak. You will not learn much from it and you can not compete with other student from top boot camp code school. The program only last 9 weeks which is not enough time for you to master everything you need to be a good developer. If you looking to get a job after you complete the program, you will not find one because you don't learn enough for companies to be interested in you. If you read through the review, you'll realize the reviews are either fake or do not go into detail of the program - you don't get a good review that will give you a good idea of the school and what to expect.

One example of why the learning instructions are weak is, It only tells you what to do but it doesn't go into detail as to why you should code it this way. The instructions are like notes and not real instructions that explain for you to understand. You also get video instructions but you just watch and follow what to do and no explanation as what and why we're doing it. If you have to create a real app yourself after graduation, you will be stuck and will not know how to do it. Some of the instructions are example code and it doesn't really explain the code and what's it's doing.

Another example is some of the instructions are short such as MongoDB, HTML, and jQuery. HTML and MongoDB are only one page long of instructions. jQuery is a few pages but not enough to learn to confident with it. The courses that are longer do not go into enough detail. For example, in React discussion about props, it explains what props are with a few sentences and a code example but it did not explain the detail of props such as how to use props, types of props, how to pass props to from parent to child then to grandchild. You also won't learn how to define props to prevent a user from passing the wrong props type.

You can get better instructions on Youtube for free. Save yourself money and go to Youtube if you thinking of joining this code school. You should do your research and compare the top code school to this school and you will see that 9 week is not enough time to learn. BEWARE! This school just want students in and out to take their money. If you try to cancel even after 3 days, you will not get your money back but only get credits. If you don't live in Barcelona, you can't use the credits because the available courses are in-person and the owner does not care that you can't attend and he won't refund you. Every code school will allow you to cancel with a refund but not this school.

A bit of facts

Hi Jaymes.

Once again, we are really sad by the fact that you are disappointed with our school. As far as I know, it's your second bootcamp which you didn't like. Let me just go through the things you mention to once explain how it works form our part.

As you mentioned, the course lasts for 9 weeks and it's been proved by our graduates from both, online and in-person formats, to be absolutely enough to get prepared for the junior developer's position. We have our alumni hired in 1-2 months on average after the job placement support starts. And we have companies which already hired our graduates coming back for more of them. Which shows that they are completely satisfied.

As you mentioned, we provide text materials with explanations and code examples + full length video lessons with us writing and running the code explained in the lecture. It allows students to not just read and try the code but also to actually watch how it is done and follow the instructor to fully implement new concepts in practice. And before they will have to create a 'real' app after the course, as you say, students are build fully functioning apps as a part of the course. One of them is a full-stack web app (example built here: https://e-commerce-.herokuapp.com/) and another one is a native mobile app (example built here: https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/id1414985238). Both have the server, the database and the front-end parts. So after graduation they are already know how to combine all the bits and pieces into a working application.

Speaking of the depth for the instructions, jQuery is a long time legacy part of the curriculum, kept there for those students who are willing to learn it for some reason. And it has 5 blocks, not 1. The mongoDB section has all the information needed and the process of building an app with mongoDB is shown in the complete video lesson. Same for the rest of the topics. We actually guide students through the entire process in our video lessons since this is a mentored course.

The comparison of our curriculum to free tutorials is completely incorrect, since courses on self-learning platforms have much lower level of difficulty and do not prepare a student for a real life work. The exercises either too simple or have an option to see the solution, which is not going to happen in real life. We are preparing our students for applying for the jobs, not just learning programming as a recreational habit.

And the refund policy is explained right away on our website, since you get access to all the materials, video lessons, exercises, projects, and there is no way to 'return' it we have to use this policy. It is possible to cancel the participation and get full refund before the starting date of the course, but not after you got all the materials which are actually self sufficient to finish the program.

Once again, really sorry to hear that and hope you will find school which is more suitable for you.

Best regards,
George

Online Javascript Full Stack Bootcamp

I had been learning from various online resources for a few months before joining the bootcamp and if you've been doing the same thing you know it can be hard to find the right course to get up to speed, some courses do too much hand holding so by the end of it you dont really feel like you've learnt anything, some show you too little and give no indication of how you can use what you've learnt to build something which has real world use, I can say after completing the course that Barcelona Code School have struck the perfect balance, the course is interesting, the instructors are engaging, and the projects are cool. If you are thinking of taking the course and have no prior knowledge i would advise you to take the pre course seriously and start studying hard from that point as the course is far from easy, it is however manageable with the right work ethic and thourougly rewarding. By the end of the course if you are looking for a job Barcelona Code School are more than happy to assist you in anything you might need, less than a couple of weeks after the Bootcamp i already have three job interviews lined up. If you still have any doubts head over to their website and strike up a conversation everyone's really friendly!

JavaScript Online Bootcamp

My name is Goran and I'm one of current students at Barcelona Code School.

I will try to describe you my impressions of JavaScript Bootcamp.

I have some previous experience with web development so I have some knowledge of HTML, CSS, JavaScript and jQuery. Problem is that knowledge is partial and was acquired ad hoc so I was hoping Bootcamp could give me a more solid foundation of that area and a systematic approach for acquiring required knowledge.

This is my fourth week and by now I can tell that this course really fulfilled my expectations and even exceeded them. First, it gave me a good perspective at the field and put pieces at the right place. Then, it have deepened each particular subject to details many of which were unknown to me previously or not enough understood. Every lesson has its accompanying exercises and these exercises  are great because they further expand details of specific topic and allows you to see if you correctly understood something or gives you some another view of possible solutions to problems. I think you have to give the best to try to solve exercises by yourself but it's also nice that if you stuck you can ask for help from instructor or from other students. Solved exercises are reviewed by instructor and that additionally resolves possible uncertainties.

Whole course is well organized and guided, there are several communication tools used. At start you get BCS account at Gmail and by that mail you are receiving all important information. Then you create a Slack account which is tool for more immediate communication, for getting answers to questions, to see code snippets, to see ideas and solutions of other students etc.
Then you have Trello for exercices review and discussions about solutions/projects. All learning materials are presented at DropBox Paper.

Each live lesson is available at BCS YouTube channel and there you can also find shortened form of lessons so called screencasts.
Since I'm employed and I can attend the course mostly in afternoon/evening hours I didn't know how it will function but it showed up that is not a problem because things are organized flexibly and I can attend lectures and do exercises/projects when is viable to my time schedule.

You will also get a recommendations for additional resources like reading lists, suggestions for development tools or great sites like Codewars where you can practice your programming skills.

Although I'm not physically present at School I can feel positive and motivating atmosphere, and school staff is always ready to answer the questions and adjust to possible demands as well as to give advice in which direction would be best to go.
