I was really impressed by their ads; the branding felt sophisticated, modern, and youthful, and the videos were great. So, I reached out via email, and someone from their team called me. I explained that I was looking to learn coding because I'd felt stuck in my UI designer career for the past five years. He then asked about my current job, and when I told him I was a UI designer, he recommended a UI/UX course with a job guarantee instead of coding. I agreed to this advice (though I've since learned they no longer offer the job guarantee program, which is disappointing). The call center, or whatever department it was, was quite helpful and responded quickly. Overall, that initial interaction was positive.
After that call, I received links to the course materials, and then the course itself began. However, it's been much harder than I initially anticipated. I think this is a significant area where JayJay School could improve.
The course material doesn't seem to have a clear, material structure. It feels as though different instructors created individual sections that were then compiled into the complete course. I get this impression because there's no clear explanation of how the content in one video connects to the others. It doesn't feel like a cohesive series, even though it's all part of the same UI/UX course and supposedly taught by the same main instructor.
Furthermore, some instructors in certain videos appear to be speaking without a script or any real structure. Perhaps it's just my perception, but I find this makes their communication ineffective. I apologize for being so direct, but I feel it's necessary to say this because I paid for clear understanding, which I'm not consistently getting. I genuinely want to learn, but the way some instructors speak doesn't facilitate that. There are too many filler phrases like "gitu kan" or "misalnya." In my opinion, teaching how to think is more crucial than simply stating the name of a method or which table to create. Once the underlying reasoning is clear, the necessity of a particular method becomes obvious in a given situation. That being said, some instructors do communicate much more clearly than others, and the Google Slides are a great addition for summarizing the topics.
Then there's the homework, which I do appreciate. However, when I work on it, some assignments seem inconsistent with what I find when I research the definitions or look at examples online. I believe the homework would be more effective if it followed one continuous case study. This approach would allow students to better understand the logic behind specific methods and why others might not be used in that particular context (even if they could be used independently in real-world research). Even worse, I sometimes don't even understand the assignment for a module in the first place. I've had to Google some of the material because the topics presented one after another are either the same or completely unrelated. It's been a year of procrastination in trying to finish everything, largely because I don't understand what some instructors are teaching (and also due to a hectic work schedule). After completion, each student submits their homework for review. I also have a suggestion regarding the Learning Management System (LMS): I think it would be better if homework had its own dedicated submission page, rather than being on the same page as the course material and requiring a 'next' button click just to see 'thank you for submitting!' illustration. So, the homework assignments have the same name as the course material, so student can submit easily. i guess they dont do this because they want to track activity or something else.
On a much more positive note, the Student Support and other resources on Discord are fantastic! This is one of the things that has really helped me work on the homework. They also provide a lot of valuable material through Google Meet – it's marvelous! Thank you!
Overall, I have a feeling that other courses at JayJay School are probably great. I even want to get another course but after i get the job. Seriously. Thank you!

Kalau dibilang mudah dipahami, enggak juga, tapi Jayjay ada mentor yang profesional yang siap membantu ngejawab kerandoman pertanyaanku seputar UI/UX, jadi ya so far aku bisa ngikutin dengan baik. At JayJay School, we truly gain extraordinary knowledge. We are taught from the basics to more detailed aspects. Here, we don't just get theory, but we also get practical training, consultations with mentors, and there's also a community of coursemates and alumni. So we can share insights and also share projects from the JayJay School alumni. I don't regret taking the course at JayJay School, because the most interesting part is that the materials and learning videos provided are lifetime access, so they can be accessed forever. Thank you JayJay School!
