Technical Project Management Flex

Some positives, but overall it was a disappointing experience. First, they didn’t tell me this when I enrolled, but the TPM program was brand new when I started, and was not even finished. Aspects of the program changed while I was enrolled, and there were a lot of typos in the curriculum. The “capstone” project expectations were also very unclear. Second, they were not very forthcoming about what it takes to get in to project management. In my 5 months of applying to jobs post graduation, I was able to land interviews, but the roadblock was always my level of experience. Hiring managers were simply not impressed with the experience Thinkful gave me, even combined with my 5 years of retail management experience. Third, I was most excited about the post grad career counseling aspect of the program, but this was really disappointing. My coach helped me with my resume, but as time went on she spent less and less time with me, and eventually stopped showing up to our sessions. The most positive part was the mentor sessions. My mentor was very knowledgeable and taught me a lot. I’ve seen reviews that the other Thinkful programs are better, so maybe consider those, but I can’t recommend the TPM program. Companies want you to have worked in tech before and have more knowledge of Agile and SDLC than Thinkful can teach you. This was basically a waste of $5000 and a year of my free time. 

I had an incredible experience with THINKFUL's Technical Project Management Flex program: A very thorough program, in regards to preparing me for all aspects of my new position. The program doesn't just include job specific educational curriculum. They also set you up with LinkedIn, Resume, and Mock Interview modules, which is where they prime all of your marketable areas perfectly for the hiring process. I had a great experience with my THINKFUL mentor Dhyana, who I had scheduled multiple meetings with each week. She has real experience as a Project Manager and that speaks volumes to THINKFUL's mentor selection criteria for their programs. Very pleased and grateful for the experience with THINKFUL, and blessed to have accepted a full time offer and a nice pay bump before graduating! Fantastic ROI.
