Definitely worth it but commitment is key

First things first: Codeworks is capable to deliver what they promise. In my case I got a very good offer already three weeks after graduation. But the course requires full commitment from your side because the time you spend at Coderworks is very intense. Also keep in mind, this is NOT a bootcamp for beginners. You'll need a solid understanding how web apps are built and basic understanding of  In fact, during the screening interviews you'll have to solve some easy problems with JS and also to build a simple web app using HTML / CSS / JS (jQuery to be precise). Make sure to have very good basics otherwise you'll struggle a lot. Before the course you'll need to finish a 100 hours pre-course in order to improve your JS knowledge so you'll need to put some time aside already before the bootcamp.  In terms of topics we covered: we spent the first four weeks of the bootcamp with data structures, algorithms, important JavaScript concepts and databases. Every day after the theoretical intro you'll need to work on exercises to solidify the concepts. Then you'll spend time with Angular and React and by the end of the first half of the course you'll be able to build a full stack web app on your own. Already at this point you should be able to apply for junior positions in my opinion. In the second part of the course it's time to work on projects and build your portfolio. First you'll build a full stack project on your own. Then you'll work in pairs on someone else's project in order to refactor it to Typescript and to add new features. Finally you'll work in a team on a big final project. To finish the course, you'll have a career week. Here you will work with a coach who will help you to update your CV, LinkedIn / Github profile etc, learn about interview strategies etc. and you'll start to apply for jobs.  Also, after the course you'll have weekly follow ups with the coach. Again, they won't do the job for you, you'll need to apply consistently and with full commitment as it turns out job hunting itself is a full time job. But you'll have all the support from Codeworks. Pros: - I really enjoyed to work with very smart and hardworking people. - I liked the tutors let you struggle, they never gave you the solution but only hints. - First part of the course turned out to be very useful for interviews (data structures, algorithms)- I found the career support very useful, even after 15 years of professional experience and many interviews I could use some of the strategies proposed by the coach- Team projects were extremely helpful to learn about collaborations and how developer teams (should) work: code reviews, git workflows, handling pull requests, merges and conflicts.- Some of the instructors were excellentCons: - I personally didn't like the lectures of the second part. Topics were very interesting and I wanted to learn more about them (testing, Redux, CI/CD, Docker,  etc.) but the lectures were way too short to go deeper in those topics. - Some of the instructors were rather unmotivated

Received a great offer within 1 month

As someone who had a previous career in Finance, I was looking to switch career to becoming a web developer. I attended the Codeworks bootcamp from end-July to end-October 2022. Prior to being admitted to the bootcamp, I went through a screening interview, built a simple web app and completed pre-course assignments. The bootcamp essentially filters out real beginner who knows nothing about web development and focuses on people who have certain levels of web dev knowledge and are committed to seeking a career as a software engineer. Due to the strict selection process, the bootcamp instructors and syllabus were able to drill down in-depth on various computer science topics such as Data Structures and Algorithms, and discussed various important JavaScript concepts, characteristics and properties and prepared one to be an expert in JavaScript and the relevant libraries and frameworks within 6 weeks. This turned out to be incredibly useful knowledge and preparation for the tech interviews. In the 2nd 6 weeks, I built a solo project, and worked with other participants for 2 other projects. I was able to built a portfolio of projects to showcase my knowledge and experience to potential employers after the completion of the bootcamp. The career service was also outstanding in helping me with my job search following the completion of the bootcamp. I received 3 offers within a month after the bootcamp and was really thrilled with the great outcome. Feel free to look me up on LinkedIn if you wish to verify my review.Pros:
The tutors really drilled down in-depth on JavaScript topics and prepare one to be an expert in JavaScript
Worked on 3 projects to allow one to showcase to potential employers
Worked with a team of other engineers and learnt about collaboration techniques and communication with others
Cons:One has to be prepared to go through really long hours - 12 hours a day for 6 days a week - but this is also how one can be well-equipped after the bootcamp to handle any technical interviews or coding challenges

Huge leap in programming skills

Codeworks delivers as promised. In my case, I was looking for a programme with a rigorous selection process and an intensive schedule that had good job prospects. As for the selection process, it requires either a solid knowledge of basic web programming (JS/CSS/HTML) or the acquisition of such knowledge during a pre-course that takes several months. The programme itself is intense and demanding, with a focus on letting students struggle with new concepts (usually in pairs with other students and always with support from the teachers) before showing them how to solve the exercises. Many of the teachers are experienced in the industry and some are actively working in the field. The few who do not yet have experience as programmers (mostly bootcamp graduates), have an adequate level and compensate for the lack of experience with dedication. I have rarely ever encountered a situation where they have not pointed me in the right direction. They are also really nice and relatable and help create a good atmosphere on campus. One thing that may come as a surprise is that the classes are not live, but rather for each topic you watch a series of recorded videos related to the exercises you are going to do, then you have a short Q&A session to discuss any doubts. The videos are relevant and up to date, but they are no better than some tutorials you might find on your own. In my opinion, this is not an issue as the pair programming exercises and projects are where you really make progress, but I thought it was worth mentioning. Finally, the careers team does an exceptional job if you trust their process, with well thought out materials, use of statistical tools to measure results and regular follow-up meetings throughout the job search until you sign your employment contract. All in all, I recommend Codeworks to anyone who has a genuine interest in programming (not just a vague curiosity), has already spent hours struggling with bugs and sees that struggle as challenging and exciting (not just painful).

Intense but most definitely worth it!

Codeworks was the most intense 12 weeks in terms of the schedule but that points towards how comprehensive the syllabus is. It really covers all the content plus gives you the time you need to develop a portfolio thus enabling you to get that first job as a Software Engineer. The instructors were fantastic, always pushing you in the right direction but never plainly giving you the answers.

Amazing

Codeworks is an intensive course with an amazing curriculum. You learn concepts from top to bottom on both frontend and backend topics.I did this course having previous work experience, but I still got to learn so many new things.I definitely recommend this course to anyone who has no experience or even to people that already have experience.

Best decision I have ever done

If you are thinking about joining a bootcamp you should totally go for Codeworks. Keep in mind that Codeworks is an extremely good experience but it's also tough. The course is based on an inmersive program where you do 12 hours per day during 6 days of the week. It's the reason you can change your career going from zero to hero. You will learn as much as you want, the limit is in your hand.Keep in mind that the joining process is long; you will need a month for it and you need to know some basics (for this, what i did was a free course in Udemy of 80h and then I just enrolled codeworks). After the course, getting a job is a period of time of a month (more or less) where Codeworks helps you with guidances. I can tell you that they don't lie about their stats on jobs after leaving the course. To me it was the best decision I have ever done in my life. All you need is willing to change/learn/work and be a nice person.

100% worth it - is what I say to whoever ask me about Codeworks. I got a job 12 days after I started my job search, and almost all my cohort already got a job in the first month.About the process:First, Codeworks have a Selection process (technical interview and assignment) which already gave me some confidence. Then they have a 100+ hours pre-course, where you have a lot of useful exercises to improve a lot your JavaScript skills even before joining the bootcamp. The course is really 12 hours a day and 6 days a week. I was enjoying so much that I was there for 14 hours using this extra time to prepare me to the next subject or to get more knowledge of the current one.During the first 6 weeks you will get a good grasp of many frontend and backend technologies by doing exercises and in the following 6 weeks you will be creating full stack applications with solo, duo and group projects. In the end of the course you will have 3 full stack applications to display during your job search. If you want to know more, you can reach me out on Linkedin.

My experience at Codeworks

When I came in, I could only solve basic problems in JavaScript. After 12 weeks I was able to build a whole web application myself and got a remote job in less than two months after getting graduated.Amazing journey with amazing people taking good care of you. Great choice.

Would Recommend to Anyone!

Codeworks was one of the hardest things I have done in my life, but it was so worth it! The course is great, the instructors are always there to help you when you get stuck, and the career support after you finish the course is amazing (Thanks Marc). During the 3 months I spent at Codeworks, I would have never thought beforehand that I would have learned so much in that time. The knowledge you gain is way ahead of what typical bootcamps provide, which will put you ahead of others when looking for jobs. Would definitely recommend it to anyone!

Would re-do it again.

The course provided me with the necessary knowledge to find a job afterwards. The frameworks learned during the course are in line with the job-market requirements.  Satisfied with both the on-campus and online instructors and the job support was very helpful.

Excellent bootcamp offering

It's been a year since I graduated from Codeworks and in retrospect I can say that joining the bootcamp has been one of the best decisions I've ever made. As a former CS grad who had previously pursued a project management career, Codeworks provided me with the right roadmap, motivation and environment to update my skillset, learn an up-to-date tech stack, create a portfolio attractive to recruiters, and make the desired career switch a reality. I was able to land my first dev job within 5 weeks from graduation, and now one year later I have landed a significantly better offer with one of the top companies on the BCN tech scene. I'd like to give big Kudos to Codeworks' career support consultant Marc, who was always on-hand to provide invaluable guidance during both of these hiring processes. To sum up, I totally recommend Codeworks to anyone who's truly passionate about tech and willing to put in the hard work. The investment and effort has paid off n-fold to both myself and many of my fellow graduates.

Go for it! It’s legit!

Before I made my decision to apply for enrollment at Codeworks, I was a bit skeptical. My family was even more skeptical. But after I spoke with an old family friend who is the Vice President of the tech department at a very large corporation, he offered to review the course curriculum. After his review, he gave me his approval along with some caveats. And so my parents and I decided to go for it. I borrowed some money from a friend and my parents took some money out of their life savings to cover the tuition costs. Even though I had my doubts in the success rates at Codeworks, I knew that if I worked hard enough and I made it through this course, I would have a very good chance at landing an actual junior position as a software engineer. Their curriculum is solid and it gives you a great foundation to build on. After graduating from this course I applied for an internship at ironforge and I landed my first full-time position as a developer in just less than four weeks after the completion of the course. The course was not easy. There were moments where I felt like I was not cut out for this. But I didn’t give up and the instructors and tutors were always there to encourage and support you when your struggling. I learned so much in just a short amount of time and I’m very glad that I joined Codeworks. It was well worth the money and time. The instructors are very knowledgeable and they have a lot of hands on experience. If your wondering if Codeworks is the right choice for you, I would say that you have a lot of choices but if you really want to be ready to start your career after the course as a junior software engineer then you should go for it. If you have any questions you can find me on LinkedIn! And I’d be more than happy to share my experience!

Intense but rewarding experience at Codeworks

You feel stuck in your current position or that your job is unrewarding. You always had an affinity to tech and want to make it onto the field but don't have the financial resources or time to go through a CS degree. Well, Codeworks might just be what you're looking for. Now, don't get me wrong, Codeworks is no magic bullet. What they'll provide you, above all else, is a great environment filled with like-minded people who are committed to making the same change you are. That is the energy you will feed on and that will drive you to put in the work and the overtime, and do it happily. On top of that, you will have access to a well-structured curriculum focused on current market technologies and a team of very knowledgeable and helpful instructors and support staff whose goal is to help you succeed. It is NOT and easy program, it's not meant to be. The first half will be spent giving you a bit of foundational CS knowledge, before moving on to backend and frontend technologies and databases. These will form the basis of your experience, always with a practical, hands-on coding perspective. The second half will be focused on building projects and putting those topics you've learned into action. Now, this second part is as much about coding as it is about cooperating with others in achieving a common goal. Building a strong product in a team means that everyone is doing their part and no one is getting left behind or overwhelmed, and communication and realistic goal-setting will be what gets you and the team over the finish line successfully. When all is said and done, you'll find that in a relatively short time period you have a great basis for a software developer role, have products under your belt you can show off, and have learned how to approach tech problems in a methodical way. At that point, you'll be well on your way into making into the field and Codeworks will still be there to support you until you do (which might just be faster than you even expected!), and then after if you so desire.

Codeworks does exactly what it says on the tin

1. Getting in is more difficult than other bootcamps - the application process is similar to interviewing for a company. Codeworks have a great selection process, including the pre-course, where you can prove to yourself that you’re willing to put in the time and effort: if you put the 20 in they take you to 100! 2. Syllabus is well-rounded, comprehensive, and up to date - No, Codeworks won’t teach you everything you would learn in a 3 year CS degree, but it gives you a very good practical insight into a range of technologies and concepts across the stack and you walk out with a much better understanding of development in its entirety. Maybe JavaScript isn’t the fanciest programming language out there but the end goal of the course isn’t mastering JS, it’s just a tool to learn more about software development and for that, it’s perfect as there’s a vast amount of libraries and resources that support JS. 3. Bang for your bucks - Yes the course is intense and 6 days a week, 10+hrs/day sounds scary but once you're in it you wish you had another 3 hours to do more coding every day. The support from TA’s and tutors is overwhelming, everyone is super friendly and there to answer your questions. The portfolio projects are, again a reflection of the effort you put in it, check out the Codeworks Youtube channel (https://www.youtube.com/c/Codeworks) there’s some mind-blowing projects that students created in 1-2 weeks. 4. The Codeworks outcomes data is real, thanks to outstanding career support! - Looking for a job as a bootcamp grad can be a dreadful experience at times but thankfully CW puts a real emphasis on this part which makes the process so much easier and less painful. Getting a job is a job itself, so you get a 1 to 1 meeting weekly with their Outcomes Lead who’s got a wealth of experience in hiring and always went the extra mile to help me at every step of the way.

Worth it

After a long research I finally decided join CodeWorks, as in joining at all, then which bootcamp and was very pleased. Two weeks after graduating I received an offer from a well-known company. As for my background I started learning to code in 2018 in my free time. Despite my prior experience it still was a very challenging, eye-opening and rewarding experience and I learned a lot. Being self-taught I faced major issues hurting my success landing a:- lack of clarity what you need to know,- working in a team (big one)- foundational software engineering skills (think beyond web-dev plus escaping tutorial-hell)- career supportI was able to get over all of them, it gave me a lot of clarity, passion and confidence on what's important to work in this industry. The technical knowledge (which is top notch) is only part of the puzzle here. You'll not only learn but embody foundational software engineering skills. It's designed to be challenging, so don't expect to just 'download the knowledge' into your head. It's hard and that's a good thing. You'll receive top-notch support from instructors, career-support team and your peers, that help you grow in the long run.

Great Experience

I really enjoyed my time at Codeworks, it was one of the best and most intense experience of my life. If you are thinking about doing a coding bootcamp, I would definitely recommend checking out Codeworks. In my opinion, Codeworks gives you the means to reach your goals in 3 months + the precourse (about 1 month), this is achieved through 12 - 13 hours of coding a day including Saturdays, and 24/7 access to the campus, however the best part about Codeworks is the team of people responsible to guide you through this, they are awesome, professional, friendly and on top of their game, this goes to all the staff, in my opinion this is the true value Codeworks provides.Having said all that a person coming to Codeworks needs to be ready to work, and put in the hours in order to achieve set goals, after all of that you will leave the course with amazing amount of knowledge gathered in such a short period of time, and most important of all you will attain a skill of learning how to learn new skills and technologies and the confidence to do so.

Best decision I ever made!

I was a student at Codeworks between January and April 2021 at the Berlin Campus. I took the full 12-week Software Engineering course.I would highly recommend Codeworks to anybody who is interested in becoming a Developer. I signed up for the course as I was looking to start a career as a Developer and was impressed by the reviews I saw online.I can honestly say that it really did live up to what I was hoping for. 6 weeks after the course finished, I had multiple job offers from different companies in Berlin for Developer roles. I am now working as a Full Stack Developer with a great company and a great salary. The course is very fast paced and you definitely need to get yourself a bit of experience with coding and a general idea of what being a Developer entails. It is 12 hours a day for 6 days a week so you have to accept that you will not have any sort of social life for 3 months. You also very much get out of it what you put in, so you need to really concentrate and push yourself to learn new things very quickly. Some pros and cons of Codeworks...Pros:- The campus in Berlin is really nice with great facilities- The team in Berlin and the wider company are super friendly and helpful- The content and tech stack is very relevant in regards to what company and employers are using- Once you finish, you receive lifetime career support and guidance which is really helpfulCons:- It is expensive- The lectures are not given face-to-face, they are pre-recorded videos with Q&A sessions afterwardsI would say that the pros definitely outweigh the cons, and if you are serious about becoming a Developer then it is a really great option. It's probably one of the smartest things I have ever done!

Overall great experience

For many people including myself, the decision to make a career change itself is a huge one, let alone finding a bootcamp and signing up for the time (and financial) commitment that comes with it. In my case, initially I was extremely skeptical of all bootcamps, but Codeworks to me seemed the most reasonable one at least on paper, so I decided to take a leap of faith. I see many others have shared their experience already and they pretty much sum up mine as well, but just to quickly summarize, I spent an amazing 3 months, learnt a ton, met great people and found a job that I genuinely find exciting in a few weeks upon completing the course. If you have already decided on making such a move and you are in the stage of choosing a bootcamp, I would definitely recommend Codeworks. Rest assured the positive reviews you can find online is coming from real students, and the outcomes they share on their website are consistent with what I have seen from my cohort.
