The best decision of my life

I was skeptical at first whether Microverse is a good fit for me. When I started the first module I knew it was worth it. 1) You Learn everything you need, to become an excellent Full stack web developer.Well you might say that several other resources offer that, then continue reading.2) You get to meet amazing people and build a great network.3) You build solid soft skills like communications, leadership, mentoring, pair-programming and many others.4) You'll have a career coach for life 5) If your goal is to land a job, Microverse is the best place to go. You'll definitely find a job.

I'm a better programmer comparing my progress to only a few months ago

I started microverse with a little coding experience, mainly from youtube tutorials and articles. I felt I was missing a lot of things and the worst part is that I didn't know what they were until I joined microverse. Microverse has helped me become a better developer not only learning how to code but also improving my soft skills. Now I can confidently collaborate in remote teams and even lead them when I need to. Thanks to microverse.

We gained the skills you need to get hired by global companies. We owe them nothing until we get a job —no matter what country we’re in. We learned through pair programming, group projects, career coach guidance, and project reviews. we have received support from their dedicated Student Success Team, mentors, a personal career coach...

A real career booster in tech at a global level.

Microverse selects self-starter developers from around the world and from various backgrounds. They are at different levels in their tech learning/career, some have degrees, some don't. Some are switching to programming from another career, while some have many years of experience but only limited opportunities in their area of the world. This mix leads to a unique learning experience, where you learn to collaborate with people from different backgrounds, with a unique accent in English, to create quality software. This, in my opinion, is a real strength of the Microverse. Indeed, any student coming out of there can adapt to any multicultural context in English in the tech industry and succeed. The curriculum is a curated list of resources covering both technical and soft skills. On the technical side, it's mostly HTML, CSS, Javascript (ES6+), ESLint, StyleLint, WebHint, Webpack, React, Redux, Ruby, Ruby on Rails. One thing to point out that I think is fantastic about Microverse is the student's exposure to Git/GitHub from day one. I remember before Microverse, although I was already a developer, my workflow and comfort level with version control were very limited. Throughout the course, the student works on several projects (usually) one per week (the first project being his own portfolio). As a result, he builds a contribution graph on GitHub worthy of a world-class developer, and the activities lead him to vary the way he contributes: commits, pull requests, code reviews, issues. As for soft skills, the curriculum covers a lot of notions, such as planning one's week, managing conflicts, learning to give feedback...I particularly liked the fact that the curriculum pushes us to modify our Github, LinkedIn, and AngelList profiles to make them look professional. This makes the student ready to apply for offers even before finishing the curriculum, even if it is discouraged by the institution.I pointed out earlier that the curriculum is a curated list of resources. This can be both a strength and a weakness. A strength in that the student is exposed to different sources of learning, and is not dependent on a single source. This opens the mind and allows for more detailed learning of concepts. Unfortunately, it can also be a disadvantage in that the learning material for a concept is sometimes too long for the time available and too broad for the complexity of the task. Thus sometimes the student can feel overwhelmed or lost. This is for me the major weak point of Microverse. I would like to point out, however, that they are constantly optimizing. Indeed, they regularly ask for feedback from students and work behind the scenes to improve the curriculum, the learning experience, and the overall student experience. Finally, I'll talk about support at Microverse. Although it is entirely remote, there is a Student Success team that provides wonderful support to students and is available to address concerns of any kind. In conclusion, Microverse is an excellent choice of school for anyone looking to pursue a career in tech at a professional level and ideally remote. You learn things that are in demand in the market, while building your reputation as a developer, expanding your network as a professional, making friends, and being assisted and supported by a dynamic team.It is not perfect and certainly has things to improve in its operation, but I can only recommend it, as I see the effects on my own person even though I am still a student.Take a look at my various profiles to get an idea of what I am talking about:GitHub: https://github.com/Kingjosh007LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/king-josaphat-chewaAngelList: https://angel.co/u/Kingjosh007Twitter: https://twitter.com/KingJoChewa

before I joined microverse I didn't have any experience in programming and I never worked remotely before, some of my friends told me that I will never succeed in the journey cause they didn't know how microverse work,  after joining Microverse I learned how to communicate with different people from different countries with different culture and background, I learned how to use the different framework and different languages. one good thing is that I succeed in my journey with Microverse.

Amazing!

This program is actually one of the best programs I've found. It's a really quick and serious program, so you have to be focused on what you're doing the entire program, but even with the speed of the program, it's a really good experience, not only because you learn a lot in a short time, but also because you meet new people every week, and you can build your professional and non-professional network with the people you find here. I started the program knowing some HTML, CSS, and a tiny of JavaScript, nowadays, I feel really confident with JavaScript, React and Redux, even though I know I still have a lot to learn. I would really recommend this program if you are really interested in programming, even if you don't know anything about it right now, but if you want to learn, this is a good place for you!

Review After 4 Months At Microverse

I found Microverse on LinkedIn and there were a couple of things that made me apply for microverse immediately were the stack they were teaching ( JavaScript, React, Redux, Ruby and Databases, Ruby on Rails ) and ISA ( Income Share Agreement ) where I've to pay nothing upfront and I've to pay 15% only when my monthly income is more than $1,000 till it reaches to $15,000.I'm about to complete my React Redux Module and so far I've learned a lot of things that I couldn't learn alone due to distraction or I'll be doing in any Software Company. For me, Microverse is an Ideal Software Development Institute to become a Full Stack Web Development and I highly recommend this.

The program has been great, no doubt it's so far the best online BootCamp I have come across. Before microverse, I tried self-learning but it was not easy, accountability is expensive, luckily microverse gives you that for free. NOW LETS SEE THE PROS;-Holds you accountable- Project-based learning- So many professional skills(I bet most self-learners can not even use GitHub well, but microverse will make you see GitHub differently in no time, let alone LinkedIn/Angelist e.t.c)- Experience working with teams in a remote setting, including remote pair-programming- No upfront fees... you pay zero dollars till you land a job that pays atleast 1000usd(lets just call it free)-Despite having many students to attend to, microverse is doing a great job attending each student at the right time.- and many more pros, obviously I won't list them all..but those are the main ones.BELOW ARE THE CONS;- Not beginner-friendly, the program is designed to fit people with at least some prior experience, there is less room for being new, much more because it's project-based, and it has deadlines. That being said though, it's not impossible, I started not knowing anything too but here I am just finishing the 3rd module(react/redux), you might repeat a few weeks here and there but with persistence, you'll move.- Studying materials and very insufficient, that say from the beginning that microverse has no teacher, they provide some materials but of course, it's not always enough, you'll eventually find yourself using other materials more(this will also teach you how to learn on your own)CONCLUSION- you won't find anything as good as this online, at least for now.- I might have not written properly and skipped many pros, but trust me they overweigh the few cons..it's A platform I wish I knew about earlier.

The hardest part of being a Micronaut is to keep up with the deadlines. But overall, the skills, collaborations and project-based learning will drastically change your horizon for the better. As a current student,  the skills I have acquired have increased my confidence and professionalism. It has also expanded my network and understanding of the importance and how to work remotely with peers.I am proud of myself for making the right choice in joining Microverse.

It has been a challenging process but rewarding

It has been a challenging process but rewarding, the are some things that can be better but in general, the staff and the content are great the things I don't like are primarily that the is no consistency in the code reviews, some of the code reviewers are great but some others no that much. The content and the way each lesson is presented I like and also the opportunity to practice my English on a daily basis with people around all the world is a big plus. There are some soft skills lessons some of them are very useful but sometimes it can feel repetitive the subjects they present. In general, I would recommend it.

My Journey and Learning Experience in Microverse

As a learner with little background in software development, I applied to Microverse in October 2020, after visiting Microverse official website via a tweet I came across online. I officially started my journey as a Micronaunt in March 2021 after a series of pre-enrollment exercises, which later proved to be a very important aspect of my journey. My first week seems a bit overwhelming, but with the support system put in place to assist beginners, I was able to excel the first few weeks and learn interesting skills that help boost my confidence and belief system as the weeks progress. The program curriculum is well structured and organised in such a fashion that it present learners with varieties of learning material and curated course content to digest from based on learners assimilation abilities and speed. The support system is organised in a fashion that will enable learners to always have someone to reach out to when face with challenges, for example, one could easily reach out to the stand-up team, coding and collaborative partner, mentors and student success team, all readily available to support your growth and journey and help clear the blockers for continual progress. The structure in Microverse has exposed me to the real-world work environment and each day to day activity and challenge I face has helped build my professional skills and shape my belief system to enable me to excel in my career as a software developer.Every day, I wake up with strong determination and desire to give my best, always committed focus and persistent to achieve my career goals, these daily drives have enabled me to become great at learning any skill and mastering new tools with ease. Personally, for me, the manner in which the learning system has been able to inject into me the ability to learn and relearn things is my greatest motivation, because facing a new task doesn't scare me anymore, I just believe I have what it takes to learn and be the best at it simple!. Therefore, it has been a game-changer for me.Finally, my journey in Microverse up to this point has been a fantastic and remarkable experience. So, without any reservation, I will recommend Microverse to anyone who has a strong desire to become a Software developer and want to be not just a full-stack web developer but the best that the world will be proud to have to join Microverse right away.

Joining microverse, I had less than 4 months of coding experience. It was very tough at the beginning, the first couple of weeks was overwhelming, the pace was too fast and the projects were way more than I had thought of me doing at that very stage. The student success knows how difficult these early stages can be hence they introduced fellow older students to mentor us. My mentor was so professional, friendly and patient. He guided me through the rough weeks. After these few weeks, I had gotten tougher and adapted to the system.Microverse has almost every scenario planned and the support system is second to none. The curriculum should be the best among other online schools around. The entire work structure and tree prepares the student for every real-life scenario. My friend who works remotely too told me that when I am done with the microverse programme, I would be more ready than even those who have been working for years.I would recommend microverse to every aspiring developer, here you will sharpen your skills and increase your market value

Have you ever experienced what it is like to feel aimless and lost in this universe being a professional and eager to feel part of something bigger?I can tell you that compared to the world, microverse (whose name hides a great meaning) managed in a very special way to show me a very large universe within something as small as a letter, a character, a binary value. The difference in values between each letter, no matter how small, implies a major flaw in the code or brings you one step closer to the resolution of the whole work.Microverse has provided me with a new and wonderful course, clearly structured in each character and number that I've written in my code and then assemble between small worlds forging a specific process which is called: algorithm. Each project is a challenge, it is a universe within the microverse.Being myself author, judge, jury, and victim within each one is a feeling that prepares you to sink the worst and perfects or to reach the next level of knowledge. Thanks to microverse, today I have a clear and fixed goal, which is becoming more palpable with each reading that I do,  each solution I build, each headache between trial and error, and with the great satisfaction of a battle won by noticing that a comma or key was missing.Today I see my path clear, my next goal, my fixed course, and my position in this well-defined world thanks to the fact that I first learned what a letter is worth in the world of coding.I can only say: Thank you very much, and happy coding for all the brave ones who are not afraid of getting lost in the constant error output but keep on going until they see the prompt with the dreamed green letter color.

I was an amazing expeerienc

The structure of the curriculum put together by microverse really made me learn the languages far better than if I were to learn them on my own without any guidance. The various mini-projects that I built with my coding partner, the solo project and the materials provided to guide our knowledge were what made the magic.  I think in general it was an amazing experience.

My Experience so far at Microverse

Honestly speaking, I have been learning programming for more than 14 years. I have not come across a program that is this all encompassing. From the methods of delivery to the curriculum and the community, It all has been a blessing to me. I love the morning sessions with fellow micronauts. Being able to interact and solve challenges together make it something to look forward to. Code reviewer are honest to let you know you are on the right path and you need to do more work. This is something that is missing even at EDX. Students need not just materials but they need support and guidance. Also, professional skill are invaluable resources for me as it not only builds me up in character for the work place but also in my relationship with my family. The only thing that i would like them to add to the program is more time for group algorithm and data structure challenges.I have been in programs where they are only after certification without building ones experience and know-how but his program is the other way round. They want you to build experience and know-how that is useful in the work place you will find yourself. With real life projects.

I loved my time at microverse cause they give an environment to grow as a software developer through their collaborative learning. This is a great way to dive right into the "working world" of web development. Their support structure of having a standup team and a body of students from all over the world has helped me cope through rough days and helped me learn a lot in terms of how I personally could improve my abilities as a software developer. This is a great opportunity for everyone who is passionate about programming but just can't seem to get their foot through the door.

From a person who came from Legal area and had no experience with coding, Microverse has brought me to this world marvelously. The daily schedule makes us dive into a software development experience. The peer-to-peer programming gives us a great opportunity to connect with a lot of people from the same area. Each day is a growing day, and it has been amazing. Sometimes difficult, but every struggle worths the price, because at the end we know we are going to the right path and seeing our results.
