Coding Dojo was a great boot camp! I came in knowing nothing about coding at all and left with the ability to build my own website from the ground up! The learning platform was great as well as the support I got from my cohorts, instructors and TA's! Definitely one of the best decisions I have made!

Coding Dojo really breaks down the borders into understandable concepts. With huge libraries of topics ranging from data structures to deploying your application. With different a wide range of programs, Coding Dojo had the right program for me working in the day time and attending classes in the evening. Attentive instructors during lectures who always have an open door policy to schedule 1-on-1 time for specifics questions or code reviews. Coding dojo also has dedicated instructional assistants available to give you that boost or to look over your code when you hit a wall. I really felt like my experience was wonderful from great instructors Zack Pieper, Michael Taylor, Sal, Devon Newsom, thank you so so much!

The learning platform is informative and the instructors are well knowledged. Your progress is definitely on you though, it is tough work and a big investment but with the right mentality and work ethic Coding Dojo can teach you what you came to learn. The journey isn't over after you finish the course, and they stress that. This is a life change that you decided to do and they do their best in preparing you before the course, during the course and after the course. You learn a lot from the boot camp to get you started and there's plenty more to learn after.

There are so many other learn-by-doing coding programs with better curriculums and at much lower costs. Unfortunately, this course did not live up to expectations for me. After starting at Coding Dojo I found there were gaps in instructional design and needed to supplement my learning with other programs such as Dataquest and Udacity which meant spending more money. These other programs were able to provide “the why” and “when” for writing the code. Coding Dojo used the same curriculum that they use for classroom instruction for online instruction. Most of the teachers and TAs were recent grads and if you had a question they encouraged you to read through everyone else’s posts first which was slightly different, especially when referencing local links. For the money, I expected more. When I spoke to admin they just wanted me to restart the course for an extra $500. I was putting in 20 hours/week on other platforms to learn the material and then having to do their assignments and just fell behind, so discouraging. Skip this course.

The Coding Dojo experience was exceptional! I had no prior experience with coding prior to entering the full-time online bootcamp, which wasn't a problem given their well thought out curriculum and course roadmap. All the instructors I had were outstanding. They truly want each student to feel comfortable/confident with the information being taught. They will spend any extra time needed to help you better understand the material, on top of the instructors being available to you beyond the lecture time you have access to TA's that are AMAZING and always willing to give a helping hand. The program is very fast past and will require lots of dedication on your end to succeed and have it be worth attending. With all that said, I would highly recommend Coding Dojo to anyone who is looking to learn or even improve their technical understanding and abilities. I was extremely impressed with everything offered, from resources to curriculum to people, everything is top-notch, and I'm confident you will be as well.

I attended The Online, 16-week program from July 6 – Oct 23 cohort.
The biggest takeaway that won my buy in at coding dojo is their wide breadth of technologies that they teach. Most coding bootcamps only teach JavaScript and the MERN stack. While some bootcamps also offer Python, Coding Dojo teaches MERN, Python, Java, and .NET among others. Ironically, I decided to learn the MERN stack. Now that I’m finished though I am eligible to subscribe to their alumni pass program which unlocks all stacks on their learning platform and continue learning different technologies. I will continue to learn other languages and platforms that interest me and expand my skillset.
A little bit about my background. I already am working in the tech field in a technical support role but I want to expand some of the tools that I have in my toolbox, if you will. I already had a little bit of experience with coding, dabbling with it in my spare time and being I had taken a few classes on it so I was really on the fence about shelling out thousands for a coding bootcamp program but I’m glad that I did.
I gained real world experience in some modern technologies. The main takeaways that I wanted from my coding bootcamp experience were to leave knowing how to develop full stack software and to have some projects that I’ve worked on to show potential employers. I’m no expert now but I am very confident in my ability to develop and collaborate with other developers. I also have some projects under my belt but I think what’s most important is that I know how to develop so now I’m free to work on more projects. Another perk is that I’ll have free, lifelong access to career services help. That means that I can always hit up Coding Dojo for feedback on my resume or practice doing mock interviews. Yay!
It was helpful to be able to work with other people in this field to get a better feel for what it is like. Software Engineers/Developers are just like anyone else, they don’t always know the answer to every question. Everyone’s experience will differ give or take a few hundred miles but this is the age of information and Coding Dojo encourages growing through research and being self-sufficient along with being able to collaborate with others in the software developer community to solve tough problems.
Ultimately, I would recommend Coding Dojo. I think that attending any coding bootcamp would be worth the money. However, I wouldn’t expect to finish as an expert. This was more like the first step in a journey of a thousand miles.

I work full time but would like to break into software development. I did the part-time online program and Coding Dojo was the right choice for me. I came into the Coding Dojo with a little bit of experience with Javascript/HTML, but wasn't able to really do a lot with my knowledge. Coding Dojo was logical, sequential, and practical. I am now able to do the projects that I wanted to do and I understand how to work with the full stack. The staff are great and their program is pretty comprehensive. It takes a lot of time but if you have the drive and devotion you will do well.

Coming from no solid background in coding to building my very own e-commerce website by using Python/Django. The curriculum was intense but well planned out to not overwhelm you. The instructors and TA’s were always there to guide you in the right direction if you are stuck. I couldn’t be happier with Coding Dojo and I am excited to start working with CS to find a job.

It's a dense program that takes a lot of time and effort to be committed.I feel I have learned a lot, but I also feel the program length is not sufficient to gain enough confidence to start a career. There was a good amount of support when it came to having questions addressed. Also, there was an expectation for us to do much independent research.

I investigated four Bay Area programs and Coding Dojo's approach and curriculum was the most impressive. Being home due to COVID-19, I decided that it was time to take the plunge and commit to this learning. I chose the 16-week part-time program, which was still quite intensive. The online learning platform is very well organized, with my favorite parts being the instructional videos that accompany much of the curriculum and assignment solutions. Other pluses are the twice weekly live online lectures, optional Saturday algorithm sessions, and Mattermost communication platform (like Slack). I was a teacher and instructional technology specialist for many years and looking for a career change. We learn so much in a short period of time that it's quite amazing, but you REALLY need to be prepared to put in the time and commitment to learn the material, do the assignments and ask lots of questions. They advertise 25 hours per week commitment. It was more like 35-40 hours a week for me, but it was totally worth it. They also have a number of scholarships you can apply for. I received one for "Reinventing Your Career."

I graduated from the online part-time program just last week! I got to learn the Python/ Django stack which only in 4 months I feel so competent at it. Though, of course there are always new things to learn and always room for improvement. I think that without the bootcamp I would not be able to learn all these things in such speed. I highly recommend it, though you need to know that it is quite intensive and it will require a lot of effort from the student (as it is always in any kind of learning environment). The curriculum is very well structured and in the online program I could follow the lectures at my own time, which I consider a very positive point.

I just graduated online bootcamp at Coding Dojo. It is very intense and challenging program. I started with zero knowledge in programming and in 16 weeks I can build a website as a full stack developer. I’m very impressed with this program. If you are ready to put time and effort every day and complete all assignments, you going to have amazing results. I would definitely recommend Coding Dojo.

I had a really great experience at Coding Dojo. I started teaching myself to code a few months prior to signing up for this bootcamp, and was really struggling to get the fundamentals down. I wanted to progress at a faster pace, so when Covid hit I figured that I could easily dedicate 20+hours of my week to learning in this program, while still working remotely at my job. I am so happy that I made that choice. The curriculum is structured in a way that provides the foundations for you to grasp essential concepts and yet challenges you to seek out more information, thereby encouraging you to continue learning on your own, and teaching you HOW to learn code, which is arguably the most important thing I learned in this program. My classmates were phenomenal, and it was great to get real experience working with other developers on projects, learning fit and how to collaborate. Instructors were great, and there are tons of video resources available so that you can watch different teachers teach the same material in different ways if you aren’t quite getting something the first time around. The course material provides tons of opportunities to exercise what you’re learning and really have it sink in to your brain. TAs are incredibly helpful and never just give you the answer, but lead you to discover it on your own. Highly recommend for anyone who wants to learn a TON very quickly. It was absolutely worth the money!

I have thoroughly enjoyed my Coding Dojo experience! Claire is a phenomenal instructor who would always take time to answer my questions and did a great job teaching the course. My goal of learning was to learn multiple languages and get project exposure so I am very satisfied with what I got out of it!The TAs were excellent and got an enormous amount of help from my classmates.Just one thing that can be improved is that there should be a lecture where we learn how to apply AJAX to CRUD commands.AJAX was something I struggled with and had to get help from classmates/TAs and google searching to understand how to use AJAX code for deleting, editing, or adding information to my project. It wasn't until finishing the group project that I truly understood AJAX.So I just recommend that they do a lecture on applying AJAX to basic CRUD commands.Other than that, I am satisfied and highly recommend Coding Dojo for anyone who has no coding experience and wishes to get into coding!

I never would have imagined that this intense course would have left me with a bucket full of knowledge. I had my ups and downs with the class but I'm now finally able to create projects front and back end. Would recommend to anyone

I took the online part-time Python full-stack course at Coding Dojo, and just graduated last week. I had a great learning experience through their portal and with the help of the instructors. I originally took the course to learn python for scripting in audio/visual control applications for customization. I looked around at other boot camps and settled on Coding Dojo because of their pricing, and their live teaching; many of the other camps simply gave you access to their learning portal. I had some experience with code academy, so the first few weeks of html and css were more or less review and expanding on what I knew. Michael Taylor was an amazing asset through and bumps or misunderstandings I had throughout this part of the course. Once we hit python, I had some trouble switching gears so quickly, but again, Michael was available to help where the lines weren't connecting. We then spent a month on Python and Django, getting exposure to the back-end programming. This is where things started to click more for me. All the free online courses I'd taken were solidified in my mind during this month I really liked the one on one meetings, where I could compile a list of things to discuss, and then go through my list with the instructor. Their Mattermost channel also had TAs available much of the time, if I ran into anything in the moment. Drew and Matthew were great at pushing me to understand the issue instead of just giving me the answer. When we got to the last month, focusing on Projects and Algorithms, we switched instructors to Matthew, who was also very helpful. The change of mind going from one language to another was the hardest part. We did a solo webpage project and a group one in the span of 5 weeks, which made me learn a lot of new techniques, including Bootstrap and Bulma. I think the most valuable thing I learned through this whole thing, is how to learn in this field. Much of the content can be learned from the programming languages documentation, and this camp allowed me to be in a position to understand how to do that, and what the gears of a website look like and do. Even though I tried to get at least 20 hours a week in of studying and practicing, I got closer to 15 most weeks, which was enough to get me to pass, but now I'm going to go over all the optional material and reinforce everything I've learned. They give you access to the portal for another 6 months after graduating. The only cons were that, I came across a couple areas in the curriculum that weren't super up to date, but I know they were updating things while my camp was going on, so hopefully that's fixed. I also wish you had access to the platform for longer after graduation, since the price for the course is pretty high, but I'll get as much as I can out of these remaining months that I have access. I feel like you definitely need to be a proactive learner to get the most out of this program. Having the Coding Dojo team there to guide and answer questions along the way were extremely helpful.

It is always hard to pull the trigger when deciding to get more education-- the investment, no, spending the money, yes. I was worried that I was going to take the class and fall into the trap of just being another number to the program. I didn't feel that way at all with Coding Dojo. Coding can be very intimidating if you are starting from scratch like I did, and it was hard at times, but the instructors always helped me find and answer quickly. Also, there is no peer pressuring, which I loved. It's not about you cramming for an exam just to pass and never use again. They want you to learn it your way so it resonates. I have not landed a job yet, but the career services are very advantageous about guiding you in the right direction. Though, it is ultimately up to the student to put the work in. Good luck!

This was a fairly intense 4-month online course that combines teacher instruction along with self-teaching. The program is well put together and the more you put into it the more you get out of it. Not being on campus, you are expected to figure some things out on your own but they have a good system for reaching out to instructors, TA's, and other students for help. The instructors are great and make sure you know they are there to help with as many 1 on 1 meetings that you need to get you through. They follow up with a great Career Services department that is very proactive in preparing you to look for a job. I would definitely recommend Coding Dojo to anyone interested in getting into programming.

This course has a natural way of increasing the will to write code and then write more code. The structure of assignments, lectures, disscusions is perfect because it helps you a lot to understand and learn programming.Definitely this course is the right choice to start learn programming or learn things about programming that we think we know.
