QA Testing

I discovered Neotech thanks to an influencer who became a QA after taking their bootcamp. The influencer is someone I look up to, so it helped me clear any trust issues. I have a psychology degree from back home, but I relocated to the US before I could do my clinical master’s. The cost of a masters degree in the US is simply too expensive for a newly-arrived immigrant like myself, so I abandoned that path and instead joined the Academy. The bootcamp was intense, because the goal is to get you somewhere quickly. I committed myself to never miss a class, actively participating in all the mentor sessions and additional sections offered. I did all the homework, attended every mock interview and then some. And I am so grateful that Neotech matched my ambition and enthusiasm by helping me at every point. I actually didn’t start applying for jobs until a month after graduation because I wanted to prepare myself more for interviews. Neotech provides you career services until you accept a job offer, so my mentor provided full support during the month when I did interview prep. To my surprise, my first interview led to an offer, and I decided to accept it even though people said I could get better offers if I waited, but I didn’t want to risk it. I am very happy with the decision I made when joining the bootcamp, and I now recommend it to everyone around me who need a new career. Thanks Neotech!

I studied Mass Media and worked in education for 10 years. I didn’t have any IT background and was familiar with computers only on a basic level. The boot camp was beginner-friendly, as they claimed it would be. I learned a totally new skill set that I can actually use in my new career. I also like the community that we built—it felt great that I wasn’t alone. I am now a Software Development Engineer with a satisfying salary ($115,000 up!) and my work is fully remote.

Taking Neotech Academy’s QA course was a significant decision for my career. As a middle-aged person with no previous tech knowledge, I never thought it would be possible to change my career after so long (I used to be a nurse). I probably wouldn’t have done it had my partner not convinced me. But the people at Neotech made the whole process engaging and informative. They encouraged me to continue and guided me whenever I needed. I did my absolute best to succeed and got a great job at a fintech startup, but I still owe a lot of it to the guys and gals at the bootcamp. That includes the other students at my batch. We made our own support groups and did assignments together, met on Zoom meetings in afterhours to go over homework, and overall really lifted one another while also learning from each other. The cohort was diverse in terms of age, background, and ethnicity, which was hard to adjust for me since I come from a pretty homogenous community, but the diversity made the learning experience even more engaging because everyone had unique ways of thinking that they brought to the table. For these reasons and many more, I 100% recommend Neotech’s bootcamp for anyone looking for a change.

I studied political science in college. I did a few internships and worked full time for two years in communications/marketing. I loved learning and doing all those things, but the realities of life catch up with you eventually. As your expenses go up, you realize your career won’t be able to financially sustain the kind of life you want to live, without having to worry about the end of the month all the time. I have many friends who work in tech, whether as a software engineer, data scientist, product manager, or QA. And they were all making more money than I was, even though I went to a better school than most of them and was a better student. Ultimately, I decided to take my chances and switch to tech. First, I weighed my options to learn, like self-learning using free online sources, a college degree, or self-paced courses like the ones on Udemy. I had zero prior knowledge of anything IT, so I knew I needed all the support I could get. That’s why I chose a bootcamp because you are trained by real teachers in live classes instead of hunting for knowledge on your own, you follow a curriculum instead of having to decide what you should learn, there’s a schedule you have to attend instead of going self-paced, etc. I found Neotech through a friend, and it was the best decision I ever made. Starting with attending their info session and all the way until I found a job, the whole process was very well-organized. The curriculum is carefully laid out and includes everything you need to know to be a QA. The projects are challenging, they encourage you to work together with your peers and apply the things you learn in classes. The instructors and TAs made every effort so we never finished a class confused. My mentor, Diana, was almost like family to me after a few weeks. I don’t think I could do it without her motivational support. The prep material they send you right after you enroll is so helpful to have a smooth learning experience during the bootcamp. It is definitely challenging, and you will reap what you sow. You have to prepare yourself mentally so that once the bootcamp starts, learning QA is a top priority in your life for 6 months. I mean, that’s the entire premise of bootcamps, they promise you major transformation in your career, so you have to be prepared to earn it. All of it was worth it though. I now make significantly more money than when I used to do comms. And I’m so grateful for everything. Thank you!

The instructors and fellow students at neotech were incredibly supportive and understanding of our experiences, and their knowledge was impressive too. I certainly acquired all the necessary skills, but the real difference came from the staff teaching us about things like imposter syndrome, the importance of taking breaks, and peer support. They prepared me for a career in software testing with empathy and authenticity, for which I'm truly thankful.

I am a software automation tester and I would highly recommend Neotech Academy to anyone looking to change careers. I was hesitant to start this bootcamp mainly because they were not as well-known as the courses like Flatiron and General Assembly. I decided to give it a shot because they were offering a full refund if I wasn’t satisfied withing the first month, so there was no risk for me. By the way, shoutout to Sam who was initially my point of contact when I was applying. He laid out the details about the course very honestly and thoroughly, and even checked on me from time to time after the course started. Anyways, I got through the first month and everything looked great so I committed to the whole thing. The cohort was welcoming and the community they fostered encouraged me to learn. There would be alumni coming in to classes as guests and sharing their experiences with us, which always motivated me to push. My coach Tarik was especially supportive, he guided me through job searching and interviews. He was a big factor when I later started doing well in the interviews. We built real friendships both with fellow students and mentors, which I hope to carry into the future.

I used to be a language teacher in Taiwan before I moved to the US and later took Neotech’s bootcamp. I had no background in testing, even my computer skills were limited. I was also concerned my struggle with math would hurt my chances of getting into a tech job (it didn’t. You don’t really need math unless you’re a data scientist). But I took a leap of faith, and it was worth it. The program has a comprehensive curriculum, including Java, manual testing, tools, framework automation, and more. I appreciated the practical approach to learning, especially the mock interviews and CV preparation sessions, which were crucial in making me ready for interviews. I would say to future students, ask questions early and try to understand everything taught in the curriculum. The learning can be intense if you also have to manage other major life commitments like work and kids, but the staff knows most students share those experiences, and they try to be as supportive and responsive as they can.

I graduated from Neotech’s bootcamp 4-5 months ago and recently found my first QA job. The four months were a mix of expectations, patience, and reality checks. It taught me that job hunting is an integral part of the process and that the effort you put into the bootcamp reflects in your job search. It’s crucial to understand that finding a job can take time, and maintaining the level of seriousness and dedication you had during the bootcamp is key to success​​. The classes were great, but the support from the bootcamp didn’t end there. Whenever I had questions, I received timely responses from the instructors. The career services people assist you with professional resume review and special instructions on job applications, which were vital in my job search process​​. Today, I am more than happy with where I am in my career. The balance between work and life, especially being able to work from home and spend more time with my family, has been incredibly fulfilling. The bootcamp not only helped me transition into a new career but also improved my overall quality of life​​.

I had doubts at the beginning but all that eased out in the first class. Now, after only six months I have more tech skills and connections than I ever imagined, which I owe to the instructors and mentors at NeoTech Academy. I recently finished the QA Tester bootcamp at Neotech Academy, and I have to say it was an incredible experience. This program gave me all the skills and knowledge I needed to start my career as a QA Tester.The curriculum was well-organized, covering everything important about software testing. We learned about manual testing techniques as well as test automation frameworks. The instructors were really knowledgeable and experienced, always there to answer questions and help us out.What stood out the most was how hands-on the bootcamp was. We did lots of practical exercises and real-world projects that let us apply what we learned in a simulated work environment. This helped me gain confidence in my testing abilities.The bootcamp also focused on tools and technologies used in the industry. We worked extensively with popular testing frameworks like Selenium, JUnit, and Cucumber. We also learned about bug tracking systems like JIRA, which helped us understand how software development works from start to finish.Another great thing about this bootcamp was its emphasis on collaboration and teamwork. It was a absolutely awesome experience , i didin't know anything about coding , testing and computer . I followed my instructors whatever they say i studied on it every day over and over  after 6 months i was able to understand how to work with the java ,selenium,cucumber and testNG, git,jira and jenkins . Wherever i get struggled they were always there  for me to help the process. Thank you Elion,Sabah,Shane and all others . Thank you for everything .

One sentence> these people know this business.. When I started this course, I didn't know anything about IT. And these people are so professional that there is a technical team to solve our problems, a separate team to teach lessons, a separate team help to find a job, a separate team to give motivation, a separate team for softskills... So just you leave yourself to this team, they consider everything to the smallest detail. You will see how much they have professional about it.  It's as if they are always ready and waiting.

From beginning to end it was a great experience. Coding could not be teaching better than this even though I have undergrad and grad experience. It is definitely recommended.  I have not seen any better teaching system. They go over everything step by step and type every code without passing even a simple subject. I think this is the way you can learn coding.

Guys! This is what you should join if you are about to land your dream job. If you don't have any IT experience (like me) don't worry at all. Teachers from NeoTech Academy are incredible. The way they explain and make you understand each topic is stunning. I've spent a great time with mentors and students. We were laughing and studying, studying and laughing. I just enjoyed the environment of this bootcamp. Over the course of 7 month we covered plenty of topics that open the door to the world of technology and give you a solid knowledge of automation testing. I love it! I got education for 6 months. I have learned a lot of skill about automation testing. Java, Selenium, Testng, Cucumber, API, SQL, Jenkins, Jira, Git, Github, Postman, Rest Assured etc... I recommend that.
