Full Stack Web Developer Coding Bootcamp 10 (.Net 8 + Angular 17) - Private Course

My name is SAMUEL MBONGA .I am currently enrolled in the Full Stack Web Developer Coding Bootcamp 10 (.NET 8 + Angular 17) - Private Course, and I can confidently say that it has been one of the best learning experiences of my life.Manzoor, the trainer, is an excellent teacher. He has truly demystified the world of programming for me. Before this course, I was confused and didn’t know where to start. But thanks to him and his powerful yet simple teaching method, I now understand how things work in the real world of software development. What makes Manzoor different from other trainers is that he focuses on real-life examples and practical use cases. Everything he teaches is connected to actual situations you may face in a real job. This helped me not just to learn, but to build confidence in myself as a developer. Thanks to this course, I am now proud of what I can do. I even started to win some projects, and that’s a big step for me. I never thought I would come this far in such a short time. The content of the course is rich and well-organized. We are learning full stack development using the latest technologies like .NET 8 and Angular 17. The pace is perfect—not too fast, not too slow—and the private format allows for personal attention. In short, this course is a game-changer. I highly recommend it to anyone who wants to become a full stack web developer, especially if you are starting from scratch. With a trainer like Manzoor, success is possible.many thanks to him

Challenging and ABSOLUTELY worth it!

I did not know a single string of code before enrolling in this program. I worked with Excel and formulas, but would still consider my knowledge in that area to be very basic. I am also a single mom and I work full-time in a mentally draining role. I am not what one would consider “math brained“. I do not process numbers as rapidly as most who are enrolled in furthering their education in a field of study such as this. I am much more “engineer minded”; how is something made, why is it done that way, how does one thing affect another thing, etc. Because of these things, this was a very challenging program for me. However, I saw the value that it offered and knew the reason I enrolled was to advance my career with the knowledge learned in this program. If any of this resonates with you, and you are considering enrolling in the program, I found what offset the challenges I faced was my determination to see the program through to the end; because I believed in the knowledge I would gain to help me reach a particular goal. Your commitment to dedicating time to the program will be another key to your success. If you are considering enrolling, I encourage you to get started with the pre-work as soon as possible so you are familiar with the groundwork of code and terminology.  Familiarize yourself with Google Collab, which is the program they use to run code cases. This is what will give you actual experience in implementing the things you will learn. Go ahead and prepare your family to understand that you will have no free time. And I mean that. When I would get home from work, I would eat a very quick bite, and sit down to start my studying/lectures. I did that until around 10-11 o’clock nightly, five days a week. I took my laptop with me to sports functions, I studied in the car, and during my lunch break.  It’s mandatory that you attend the Saturday and Sunday live classes. For two hours on Saturday, and two hours on Sunday, you will be dedicated to watching and participating in a live class. Most of the time, before that class, I was doing something related to that weeks topic. And after the class, due to discussions and expansion on the material, I often had things I wanted to look up and learn about. So when I say you will have no free time, I mean every word of that. It is a small price to pay for being able to take such an extensive course on this topic in such a short time. As adults, we don’t often have the luxury to attend traditional school at this phase in our life. The structure of this course allows us to get the education, and the trade-off is we have to cram it in in a short time frame. I am glad that I pushed myself, even though there were weeks that I literally cried myself through it. So if you decide to do this for yourself, and your career, then don’t be discouraged if you find yourself in a similar situation as you progress through the course. I promise you will make it through, and you will be glad you did. My program manager was very helpful and understanding when I found myself having difficulty in an assignment for whatever reason. If you find yourself facing a challenge, don’t be afraid to honestly communicate your situation to your program manager. They want to see you succeed and are your advocate for encouragement and support during your learning. If you want it bad enough, then you will not regret taking the step to enroll in this course!

Learn with AI and Hand-on

It's an exciting learning experience - you learned with AI as your teaching assistant along with Great Learning and MIT faculties and staff.I did not have any coding experience before, but at the end I am able to complete three Python notebook projects on time. The reason I chose this program is for its hand-on coding experience. My favorite part is Saturday's mentored live sessions. Nandi is not only very knowledgeable and dedicated, but also knows where students got stuck in. The teaching materials, videos and handouts and references, are well prepared for students. The structure of the program is designed for learners at different levels. And it's labeled clearly so that you can move on faster and immerse yourself at broad spectrum of exposure if you like. However, for assessment we just need to meet the requirements. You get academic support from faculties and administration assistance from program manager within 24-48 hours. One of the strengths of this program is the examples and applications exemplified in the classrooms such that students felt relevant from their fields. You also learned anecdotes from famous historical events like space shuttle Challenger's explosion and sunken Titanic from the data science point of view. I highly recommend this program to those who are willing to get out of their comfort zone and challenge themselves. Afterall we are living in this AI world.

Structured Curriculum with Ivy League Professors

MIT xPRO's full stack coding bootcamp is offered by Emeritus and covers the MERN stack.  The first trimester includes the fundamentals of JavaScript, HTML, and CSS.  This is taught through code-along videos, articles, discussion boards, and coding assignments using the NextTech platform. This trimester concludes with your portfolio project and three mini-projectsThe second trimester covers React as the frontend library for this course.  The second trimester concludes with a frontend bank application.  The final trimester covers the backend and concludes with a full stack project using Node, Express, and MongoDB.

DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY ON THIS COURSE

I am 19 years old and I recently graduated high school. I was looking for more affordable alternatives to getting a four year degree as I have no quarrels with furthering my education but college is prohibitively expensive for someone in my situation. That being said, I definitely did not find it here. This has, by far, been one of the most difficult times in my life and it is 100% because of this course. To start, there are no live lectures where you can ask questions. All you get are this little 1 hour sessions where people who don't know the first [redacted] thing about teaching work through some concept that go on once a week. Second off, ALL and yes I mean ALL of the course material is YEARS out of date. SO MUCH SO THAT MOST OF THE INSTRUCTIONS IN THE BACK END PORTION OF THE CLASS, WHEN FOLLOWED, WILL NOT RUN.  This course is simply using MIT's name to sell you something that is outdated and will not help your learning progress at all.

Full stack web development

They told me time and again I didn’t need any experience for this course. This was not the case, I didn’t wind up passing as the instructions are not well laid out, they give next to no instructions on trouble shooting and possible problems you will run into. I would not recommend wasting your money unless you have experience in coding or the ability to spend far more than the recommended amount of time on each module. I’m now $6,500 in debt for a course I didn’t pass, I feel conned, it was most definitely not for beginners, especially beginners who have full time jobs.

Professional Certificate in Coding: Full Stack Web Development with MERN

I enjoyed the course. There were enough challenges to keep me engaged. The learning facilitators were usually quick to respond of I ever needed help. You don't necessarily have to have experience in coding before starting the course, but it will help at the beginning if you are vaguely familiar with another coding language. This isn't entirely beginner friendly,  but beginners should be able to complete this if they put in the work to get up to speed in the first 4 weeks. The projects that cap off the second and third sections are fantastic, and have drawn a lot of interest from potential employers. In particular, the final project which integrates everything learned in the course with a fully functional payment Integration has drawn a lot of interest. I've only been out of the program a month, and haven't yet been given a reasonable job offer, but I'm confident that the skills I've learned will help me find a position soon. It isn't a cheap course, but they uave made me job ready, and I understand now other areas I can improve as I progress on this career path.I find myself looking at other websites now and thinking about how some of them could be improved using what I've learned.

What do you expect from MIT?

I've read all the other reviews for this program and I seriously don't know what some of these other people came in expecting. It's an MIT program, with lectures from actual MIT professors, of course it's hard, of course they assume you already know things, they are used to teaching the top 1% of students in the world. A certificate from MIT wouldn't be valuable if it was an easy course. I just finished my program and it was definitely a slog. I had to do a lot of extra learning but I have a lot of developer friends who helped me to understand that that is normal so I wasn't mad about it. The NextTech tool is really bad and I hope they replace it, but otherwise, I feel like I got what I paid for. And now I'm working with a career coach and already starting to get some interviews for developer roles. The MIT cert definitely turns heads. For 7 grand and a bunch of my free time, I'd say that's worth it. If you are a total beginner or don't have more than 20 a week to put in or are someone who needs/wants a lot of structure and hand-holding then you probably shouldn't do this course. Otherwise, I think it does a good job of trying to support you through the lectures from the faculty and in the end it got me to where I want to be.

Do Not Waste Time and Money Like I Did

Having just finished this course, I write this review as a cautionary tale...do not waste your time and money on this program. While it is exciting to have the opportunity to learn from two MIT professors who are clearly very passionate and very skilled at what they do, that does not translate well in these videos. The majority of the videos are spent explaining bits and pieces of what  code was implemented, not why and/or how. You'll watch these videos multiple times and still have a hard time grasping the information because it's explained in such a poor, rambling manner. These videos/starter code files are nearly two years old and as a result, the majority of the code will be broken on the last two of the three sections of the course, most notably in the last course. The code editor that is used to submit assignments is very particular in its logic, so you'll spend more time trying to learn how to pass the coding assignments the way that the system wants you to, rather than actually learning how to code. I hoped that at the least I'd have a certificate with the MIT name on it and that's literally the only positive I can take out of this course six months later. The only reason why I've given an additional star under the instructors is for the live learning facilitators-they're incredible and one of the few bright spots in the mess of a program. One of the great benefits is that you have access to them five times a week. They already work in the field and do a very good job of providing support/walking through building projects and answering questions. That's really the only positive I can think of. I wouldn't recommend this course to anyone who does not already have a background in coding, because it's very hard to grasp the material. I feel like I've learned next to nothing and would consider legal action to get my money back if I thought I had a case.

Hi Tim,
We are truly sorry to hear that this program didn’t meet your expectations. We’re committed to helping you build the skills you need to take your career to the next level, and all our programs undergo thorough review for content quality and rigor. The Next Tech tool is also consistently updated when changes occur to code bases and when exercises need to be updated. However, success in this program does rely heavily on the learner’s ability to be self-directed, research on their own, and reach out when they need help. If you’d like to discuss your experience further and provide additional feedback, you may contact mit@emeritus.org. We appreciate your feedback, as it helps us improve the experience for all future learners in our program.

Might have been better before materials became outdated...

To get a better idea of the current situation of this Bootcamp click the box to read the reviews of MIT XPro Bootcamp by "most recent first." You will notice that most of the bad reviews are recent. There is a reason for this. I am about 2 months away from finishing this slog of a Bootcamp. Here is my experience:Prior to enrolling in the MIT xPro Bootcamp, I had taken a coding bootcamp with SheCodes (highly recommended). With SheCodes, I learned HTML, CSS, JavaScript, responsive development, and React. Enough to start freelancing as a web developer. I should have just taken what I learned with SheCodes and made projects and a portfolio and started applying for jobs. But, instead, I thought I needed a "full-stack" experience and I trusted MIT to deliver that. Both SheCodes and MIT are pre-recorded video lessons with help available via Slack (SheCodes), a forum (MIT), or email (both). The differences are that MIT is a graded course and is structured more like an online college class. New work is released every week and you have one week to finish it and turn it in for grading. You cannot make up late work. There is no feedback provided for your weekly work. Most of the work is on a sandbox platform NextTech which has its share of issues and is notorious for having bugs and rejecting good code and passing bad code. Because of this, you had no idea if what you turned in was actually good or not (no feedback). The only feedback you receive is for your portfolio projects (there are 3 of these) and this is the one (and only) strong part of the course.SheCodes on the other hand had soft deadlines. You could finish work on your own time, but you could get extensions if you needed them. You received feedback on your work and if you did a good job, you passed on to the next portion of the class. No grades and lots of support. You leave SheCodes with some great projects for your portfolio. So in a way, MIT and SheCodes are similar...pre-recorded video, independent learning, making projects for your portfolio. Looking back, I learned much better with the SheCodes method and I would have saved thousands of dollars if I hadn't been so sold on the idea of moving on to a full-stack bootcamp with the MIT name. Having had a great experience with SheCodes, I was shocked at how poorly the MIT course was put together. Here is where the MIT course gets VERY stressful. Because work is graded (you must achieve 75% to pass the course and receive a certificate) and there is a hard due date, you are dependent on timely support to learn the material and turn it in on time. This makes the performance of your official "learning facilitator" extremely vital. Your learning facilitator is the ONLY actual live human who helps you during this course. The MIT professors show up on pre-recorded videos only. There are other people who are "support" staff available via email but they often just refer you back to your learning facilitator. The week's graded work comes out on a Thursday. Our learning facilitator was only available to meet us live online on Tuesdays. The work is due Thursday morning. So...if you struggled with any part of the course, you only had a day and a half to get help and then hopefully complete your assignments correctly and turn them in. If you missed the live help (office hours) then you had to wait for the recording to be posted which usually happened the next day (giving you less than a day to finish all of your work). And there was a lot of graded work. Way too much to do in one full day. Hope you don't work on Wednesdays! You'll need that whole day to do a week's worth of work.Well...that's stressful. But, wait there's more...This is where it is important to note that most of the poor reviews of this bootcamp are from the most recent cohorts. The main reason for this is that most of the pre-recorded content of the class (the part with the MIT professors) is now outdated. As the course itself states "software changes rapidly" and in the last two segments of the course, you can count on most of the instruction to be almost useless since all the steps they are demonstrating no longer work. The frustrating part of this however is that you have no idea whether your code isn't working because of a small error on your part or because they are having you code with outdated methods. You will spend countless hours trying to figure out if it is you or the course. Then Tuesday will roll around and you will finally get your answer that "oops, that instruction is outdated" and by then you will only have one and a half days to do it all over again with the proper instruction and turn it in for grading. The career support is just a series of pre-recorded videos about making your resume and portfolio. Nothing that you can't find for free on YouTube. In my own experience, I wouldn't have passed this class (due to the issues stated above) if I hadn't already taken the SheCodes courses and knew my way around Google and YouTube to find free content. In the end, having the MIT name on my CV will be a nice parting gift, but if I had to do it again, I would not pay nearly $7k for this poorly designed and delivered course. I am a former teacher and there are so many ways this course has failed basic instructional design and pedagogy methods. Save yourself lots of money and look into Nucamp or SheCodes. I have a feeling that most of these college-affiliated courses are the same. And your experience and success in them will be entirely dependent on that one human who is employed to actually help you learn. If the content of the MIT course was up to date, then we could have handled a poor support system. If the support system was robust and available when we needed it, then we could have handled out-of-date content. But, give us out-of-date material and poor support, and you have 32 weeks of frustration, little learning, and the MIT course in a nutshell.

Strongly NOT recommended

For those who may consider this program, I would strongly NOT recommend it. I started participating in this program since August-2021. I am on the 3rd and last semester currently, and will graduate in 2 months. So everything I say here is based on my observation as well as personal experience thus far.The reason I decided to take MIT full-stack classes is that I deeply know for doing Full-Stack, I need to have some help to watch over my shoulder to see what I have been doing. I was happy to hear that we have a teaching assistant as well as a success coach to make sure our success. And here is what happened after I participated in the program:Our new weekly material is posted every Thursday, which usually leaves all of us extremely confused with the content. Routinely, our teaching assistant will post this week's content review step by step on Tuesday, since this is her 2nd job, and she has no time to post anything earlier than that (we double confirmed with her at the beginning of the program). That leaves us one and a half days to finish all the homework, which is almost impossible to do. Even though we managed to do some, it usually starts to have tons of questions, and we expect her to fast reply so we won't pass the deadline. Yet, she will answer them on the same day as the deadline, which leaves us no time to go further to finish our homework, since we are usually stuck in the middle of the problem-solving. Students have been trying to reach out to the Sucess Coach for help as well as figure out if there is any way to improve this. No positive feedback. I have been seeing angry students leaving one after another without any feedback or help from this program. Eventually,  the students who are remaining have no choice but try grading the teaching assistant a low grade to raise the attention that we need help. Yes, we got a message from her and asked if there is anything she can help with. However, she was not aware of the frustration we are having. In addition, here is the proof of her work is getting worse and worse.Ever since 2022, our teaching assistant started disappearing in our QA section. She didn't answer any of the questions on Week 14 (due on 1/13/2022), week 15 (due on 1/20/2022), week 19 (due on 2/17/2022), and week 23 (due on 4/8/2022). On week 15, she appeared, and here is the quote "Last week's discussion board was left unanswered by me, as I didn't sign up to get notifications by mistake. I apologize! 🙇‍♂️

If you still have questions about last week, please reach out to me directly! But I've seen you replied to each other, which is awesome! Keep up the great individual and teamwork!
" And yet, she didn't answer any of the questions in either Week 14 or Week 15. What an irony! I also tried to reach out to her through Slack, since that's the platform we were told to reach out to for faster assistance. The last conversation I had with her was on November 25, 2021. Four days after I raised my questions, she answered me, but it was already passed the deadline. After that, I was not able to contact her, I tried to reach out on December 18, 2021, and March 29, 2022. All my questions are remaining unanswered.Last week, we had homework that almost none of our students were able to figure out, and there was one student who has been very persistent in this program until this moment (only 2 months away from finishing line), stormed out angry, and quit. I eventually turned in my half-done homework and asked for help for the grader (that's how desperate I am). The grader told me that I need to reach to my teaching assistant. So this is not going anywhere. At this moment, I don't believe her promise of work as well as her attitude toward this job. I have no willingness to work with her in any circumstances anymore. And If this problem is still remaining,  I will consider taking legal action. For other problems, such as the materials being outdated, I would not repeat others' words, because those are all true.

Hi Skye,
We’re sorry to hear that this program hasn’t met your expectations. Nearly all (90%) of our students tell us that their learning objectives were met or exceeded, and that is a statistic that we are proud of. However, success in this program does rely heavily on the learner’s ability to be self-directed, research on their own, and reach out when they need help. To provide that support, we require a 24-hour response time from learning facilitators, and currently all learning facilitators are meeting those expectations. We have validated they are responding to student questions effectively and within SLA. While success coaches are available for additional support, support is mainly focused on the student's academic goals within the constraints of the program, and coaches aren’t able to tailor the program’s fundamental nature to suit individual needs. We encourage you to regularly reach out to our team for support. You may also contact mit@emeritus.org to discuss how we can improve your experience and help ensure that you achieve your learning goals. We appreciate your feedback, as it helps us improve the experience for all future learners in our program.

Where do I even begin..

Gosh, I wish I wasn't writing this review after the money that was put on my credit card. I feel like a fool but they totally used the MIT name in order to sell, sell, sell. Nothing about this bootcamp is beginner friendly but even if you put that aside, the assignments that work on a program called NextTech do not work half of the time. So even if your code is correct, you can't see it on the console. On top of that, you do not have accesses to any coders, so getting help on your home work is near impossible. I have a 'coder' husband who helped me through the beginning of the assignments before he finally said, cut your loses. There are so many typos in their code and you're able to pass your Next Tech assignments even if your code is wrong OR right. Anyway, this is almost scam level and I am personally surprised more people haven't reported them to better business bureau.

Hi Kimberly, we’re sorry to hear that the program did not meet your learning expectations. Our records indicate that you withdrew from the program very early before sharing your concerns regarding coding support or NextTech, so we’d like to address both. The NextTech concern is part of a larger software issue we’ve experienced and not the course content. We are working with the company to troubleshoot these difficulties and have been posting regular updates for students to set accurate expectations that reflect the issues. With regard to coding support, program participants do have access to coders. Our learning facilitators are developers in their careers and highly experienced professionals who are available to answer questions anytime via Q+A boards, email, and office hours. If you have additional questions or feedback that you’d like to share, please contact mit@emeritus.org

Not begginer friendly at all.

Currently about 7 weeks in and I have to say this is not very beginner friendly at all. I wouldn't believe anything the student advisors tell you about this course either as they just want to sign up as many people as possible. It is all videos that basically tell you what to do and not how. You are supposed to figure out how to code on your own basically and complete the assignments, so I don't know why they think they can charge so much for this course. It is obvious the only people in my group that are successful have at least some background in computer science or coding.  The learning facilitators have been very helpful but there is only 1-2 hours of office hours a week where you can ask questions, you can not contact the actual professors from the videos at all. They recommend you take a free intro to javascript course before it starts and if you don't I have a hard time seeing anyone being able to get through this course with out some basics on your own.

Hi MIT xPRO participant,
We’re sorry to hear that this program hasn’t met your expectations. 90% of our students tell us that their learning objectives were met or exceeded, and that is a statistic that we are proud of. We strive to develop our programs to meet the needs of individuals at various levels of proficiency; however, we do recommend that true beginners spend some additional time practicing these concepts, as they are quite tricky to learn for the first time, especially in an accelerated program such as this. All participants in this program have access to personalized support and live office hours sessions, and we want to ensure that you’re getting the support you need. It sounds like you are enrolled in a current cohort, and if that’s the case, we encourage you to reach out to your learning facilitator or student success coach for assistance. Please take advantage of the team of people who are here to support you. That’s our job, and we want to help you succeed. You may also contact mit@emeritus.org to discuss how we can improve your experience and help ensure that you achieve your learning goals. We appreciate your feedback, as it helps us improve the experience for all future learners in our program.

Full-Stack Development

This program is one of most ineffective learning experiences I’ve ever had. As a long-time educator and curriculum developer, I’ve reached the conclusion that there had been little to no thought towards healthy pedagogy or scope and sequence. Many of the materials such as video tutorials are years-back outdated and, so, students run into multiple errors trying to figure them out. There is virtually no consistent support other than reaching out to other peers all the time. Limited learning. Do NOT fall for the name! Not worth it!

Professional Certificate in Coding Women’s Cohort

I would describe this Bootcamp as a: some knowledge and self-taught Bootcamp.Professionally,  I have a degree in BS Computer Science and I've been a software engineer for over a decade, focusing more on technologies like Java.I decided to take this Bootcamp because I wanted to learn new technologies and I wanted to force myself to complete it but I would say that even though it is described as a 0 experience/knowledge needed if you have some experience or knowledge it would be the best because a lot of the information is left out so you can research it and if you have no clue what to look for, it could be really frustrating. On the positive side, modules are pretty interesting and they have slack groups where you get to meet and work with your classmates so you can also start building teamwork skills that are needed in the real world. Finally,  they also have some sessions to help you to find jobs and how to get better at interviews so that can be useful for those ones looking for a change in their careers.

Great curriculum, good support, very flexible

The program gives a strong foundation to become a full-stack developer starting with no experience in the subject.  If you put the time & effort, study the lessons and the additional materials, attend to the live office hours, engage with your classmates & facilitators, and practice what you've learned, you really acquire the skills and knowledge to create great websites/apps

Professional Certificate in Coding: Full Stack Development with MERN-February 2021

So in January this year,  I started researching about which industries had more jobs than the right candidates to fill the positions. Coding came up tops so I begun another research on the best institutions to learn how to code. Two days after I had started my search, I started seeing banner adverts of this course on social media. I scheduled a call with a course advisor who was so helpful and answered my questions in great detail. I joined the live information session on this course and after reading on the course instructors and what they have achieved in the coding fraternity, I immediately knew i wanted to study at MiT. The course is very demanding, It's designed in a way that makes you do a lot of research on the curriculum. The course work requires between 15-20 hours per week to complete. There are weekly assignments and quizzes which must be submitted in order to complete the course work for the week. The course is in three parts, the first part is web development which teaches how to layout a website, design it and create a logic for the site. At the end of each part, there's a project that every student must complete as part of the course work. The projects helps you practice what you've been taught. The Next Tech platform which is a program we use to submit coding assignments is very opinionated and often leaves you frustrated when its not accepting your code. DO NOT GET FRUSTRATED, if you follow the instructions, next tech will accept the code for submission. The best part of this bootcamp for me is the learning facilitators. Three facilitators meet with students 3 times a week at different times. The learning facilitators are so helpful and take their time to explain the concepts. They are like our number one fans and always look out for us. They have Q&A's during their office hours, interact with students on the course platform and are quick to reply emails.I'm 20 weeks into this course and though I know I have a lot of learning to do in the area of coding, I often look back and realise how much I have learned about coding. The course also provides mentoring services for its students, as well us prepare you for your job search. If you are a self learner, this is the course for you.

Professional Certificate in Coding: Full Stack Development with MERN

This program is highly professional and organized.  I've thoroughly enjoyed my time with the program so far.  I'm looking forward to my time left prior to graduation.  All of the staff and faculty are very nice and helpful.  If you're looking to get into Web Development, I would highly recommend this program!

Professional Certificate in Coding: Full stack development with MERN

This course is highly professional. I like about having quizzes and guided exercises to work on throughout each module. Professors explain in a practical way, working also on practical examples/exercises. I find also the support/facilitators system working perfectly and giving full and quick support to all students whenever it's needed. Plus, there's plently of office hours videos, where learning facilitators take you through some exercises and some particular coding situatrions/cases.
