I would always say I want to learn programming, but I always found it too intimidating. But Altcademy's mentor support and structured curriculum helped me break the barrier and gave me confidence that I can become a programmer. I am now working on my final project, plus researching for jobs and preparing for interviews.

I took the Front-end program because I wanted to add features and manage my family business's website. My experiences with learning to code were all from other online video based courses. It took some adjustment, following the text based curriculum on Altcademy. Once I got used to it, progress is much faster than learning from videos. It took me six months to finish the program, since life got in the way a few times. My mentor was very knowledgeable and assisted me through each step. I highly recommend this to complete beginners.

I signed up for the fullstack program but decided to stop after completing all the frontend modules since I want to start looking for a job sooner. If you read the reviews, you would already know the curriculum is well written, the mentors are amazing, and the price is super affordable. It is all true. Before joining this program, I had been learning and doing some frontend development for my small online business. I can tell you from my personal experience that having a structured program and a mentor is 10x more efficient than learning on your own. If you want to learn web development, this is for you.

A thoroughly enjoyable program. Assignments and projects are challenging yet rewarding. I finished with a portfolio of multiple small projects and one large advance custom project based on my own idea. I went through data structures and algo training at the end. They will help you with your cv and linkedin profile for job search. The support was just enough that you didn't feel like going at this alone. You can talk to other students through slack. You can ask and search questions on a Q&A platform. You can book live office hours with your mentor to get help. The offer is amazing for the price.

The curriculum covers most fundamental concepts in frontend web development and is enough to get you prepared for some entry level roles. Especially if you have some experience with other roles in tech. If they could add some classes on automated testing, it would make the curriculum more complete. The content is mostly text based and easy to follow, with lots of exercises and walkthroughs. Mentors were very helpful and usually responded within the same day I asked them questions. I thoroughly enjoyed the program.

I compared the curriculum of this program to other popular schools and this curriculum covers most of the common topics in web development. The content is easy to read and the exercises are just challenging enough to push my limits without being overwhelming.
My mentor is friendly, knowledgeable, and encouraging. I got very indepth feedback on all my coding projects from my mentor. All in all, I am happy with the program.

I have done some programming courses on other platforms before Altcademy. But I wasn't able to learn comprehensively because there were just too many choices, and choices are bad for beginners. Altcademy's strict syllabus helped me focus on learning the right things in the right order. I would recommend this to anyone who needs guidance in learning web development.

I am learning to rekindle my childhood interests in computers and programming after years of working in online marketing. I am still working full time, so I can only spend nights and weekends to learn. And I prefer to learn from home, so my critera is an online program that is self paced. I spent quite some time researching different online coding schools. Most are very very expensive, in the 5k range even for a part time program. But then I found Altcademy, which offers pretty much the same syllabus as everyone else, and it's way more affordable. I have to say I was a little skeptical at first, but after I finished the first course, I knew I made the right choice. I have one warning though, their content is like 95% text, so it's not the regular video course like everyone else. You need to be sure you can learn from text before you sign up with them.

I am a digital graphics designer and I work with web developers a lot in my job. So learning front-end development is an obvious choice for me. I found this program to be well rounded, practical, and in depth. I am now capable of implementing my design in actual code, which is what I aimed to achieve.

There was a lot of material covered in this course. I spent on average 15 hours a week studying and managed to finish 80% in 4 months. I am nearing the end now and my mentor agreed to help me build a website for my business. I learnt a lot of practical things from this course and I am feeling more confident about building and managing an online business now.

I joined to learn some skills to improve the web aspects of the family business. And I got what I was looking for.
Graduate 2018
The material goes from easy to advanced in a pretty steady curve. It was challenging but not too hard that it would drive someone crazy. Most of the curriculum is well written and the explanations easy to understand. Recommend to complete beginners.
Graduate 2018
I recently graduated with a master's degree in design. I wanted to gain some solid skills in front-end development so I can work in digital agencies. And this program gave me exactly what I needed.

I am currently taking the Front-end program and am having a great experience. Material is well written. Mentors are supportive and helpful. The material is mostly text based which suits my study style. Better than the video based courses I took before.

I came in to this program already knowing some HTML and CSS. So the first part of the material was a really good review of my existing knowledge, as it revealed some of the holes I had. The JavaScript part had a comfortable learning curve, it started from the absolute basics and slowly progressed to high level (some times difficult) concepts. There were plenty of exercises for practice, which was important. Part 3 combined HTML, CSS, and JavaScript to create websites that would call external APIs, and create interactive game features. It really painted the picture well of how a website is put together. In summary, it was a very rewarding experience and I have learned a more logical and stretigic way to think by learning how to code.
Graduate 2018
I have always been curious about coding. So I decided to try and learn it while I had the spare time from work. I started out learning on free platforms. It was ok, I learned some basics. But I needed more depth and structure. Altcademy's program covered the fundamentals in details I have never seen. It was a completely different learning exeperience from before. But the best thing about this program is the feedback I got from the mentors, the fact that I can get help from an experienced mentor was really worth it.
Student 2018
The best thing about this course is the mentorship. Honestly, learning how to code was hard for me. But the support from the mentors got me through to the end. Couldn't have done it without them.
Student 2017
First off, I have to say this program isn't easy. The added fact that it is online only makes it quite daunting but have no fear Altcademy makes the course both easy to approach, learn and then allow you to apply your skills at the various challenges and projects. By the end of the program you should have a good understanding of CSS, HTML, Javascript.
A big part on why Altcademy worked for me is their instructors. Both instructors, Xiao and Harry were very generous with their time and make it easy for me to reach out to them. Between the chatgroup, email, 1 on 1 office hours. You can learn on your own pace and also be able to reach out to them at any time. Posting your problem to them at the chatgroup will usually yield some answers, URL links to where you should follow up.
In some ways the online only aspect allowed a right balance of letting me struggle, figure out my "syntax" errors and then understand how I can correct them. I remember 1 particular moment when I was doing a particular assignment and was having some problems understanding where I went wrong. During the 1 on 1 office hour, Xiao was very patient with me and went above and beyond to make me understand where I was going wrong. After finishing up, I realized we have gone for about 2.5 hours on that 1 issue I had!
I am thankful that I had the opportunity to learn through Altcademy and can't say enough good things about their program and offerings. In fact I so enjoyed myself that I will be taking their Back-end Development course in May 2017.
