Udacity used to be a great online education platform that I recommended to friends and colleagues. Unfortunately, that's no longer the case. I've purchased three Nanodegree courses from them, and I was initially fascinated by their project ideas, reviews, comments, and mentors when I first discovered the platform.
In this era, thanks to sharing enthusiasts and the developer community, you can access all the knowledge or projects that Udacity can offer. This is true for most platforms, so what you pay for is the educational support from real people, customer support, certification value, and user-friendly workspaces/websites.
At Udacity, mentors generally help you out quickly when you raise a question, which is great. The value of certification depends on your country, so I won't comment on that.
Now, let's discuss the red flags that have made me stop using this platform. I'll also share my detailed recent experience.
Especially after the new update, the website and workspace are a mess, almost looking like an unfinished website. It's definitely not user-friendly. The same goes for their workspace. For example there is data that can't be downloaded due to sensitive information, and you have an AI project. It's normal to wait 4-5 hours for your train data, but in their workspace, it can be interrupted because their system automatically logs you off or experiences at least one or two crashes in day at Jupyter. This means you have to start over. Your code will be there, but you have to run every line again. Regarding customer support: at Udacity, there's never a chance to talk with real support; there's an AI chatbot (Seb) that only sends emojis and doesn't provide any useful information. They added UdacityGPT, which is incapable of answering questions. They charge money per course per month but don't provide support within 72 hours. No one cares about you after you pay. I hope people will see this post before purchasing. Also, concerning reviewers, if they're busy, they don't care about you and can even refuse to review your project. For example, if you're near to repaying next month and close to finishing your project, might reviewers will use up all the deadline and can make excuses not to check your project. If you ask for help from support, good luck – you have to wait at least 72 hours, which might only result in a response asking you a question in return.
In my capstone project, I shared my repo, code, and blog articles. In this course, I took lessons on coding and GitHub, but not on how to write articles, which makes sense because writing and sharing articles is a personal choice. In my project submission, the reviewer refused to do a review because they believe I shared too much code in the article, which definitely does not make sense. I am not sharing this article as a Udacity employee; this is my personal area and my personal choice. There was no rule in the project rubric stating that I can't share code in my article. The funny part is that, because of this, the reviewer did not do any review for my GitHub repo and code. I am here to learn coding and data science, which should be our primary goal, but this reviewer does not seem to care about this. For now, I have clearly told the reviewer that it's my choice, and if there are any missing parts, they should address them in the review and provide me with some examples. Also, please help me understand the idea of making a perfect article if my code is not right. Let's say there is a critical mistake in my project; I would have to change the entire article. I don't understand this logic. After I wrote this to the reviewer, they are now purposely making me wait for the review and using up all the time for the deadline, which I have never experienced before at Udacity. This kind of approach is not cool, and their attempt to fool me is making me angry.

Really bad experience with the mentor and customer supports. Whenever I hit a wall along my learning path, I never really had the support I was expecting from mentors. It blocked me several times when after having heard from a mentor that they would investigate and come back I would never hear from them. I have contacted the customer support twice about this particular problem and they said my case was reviewed again by the mentoring team. But again I never had a reply! Given that the price is per month this makes this extremely frustrating. I would really recommend to stay away from Udacity nanodegrees for that reason alone.

I was hoping to love them. Unfortunately I do not. Firstly, their workstations frequently don't work, or are clunky and poorly designed even if they do. I cannot submit my SQL final project bc their database and workstation won't load. This problem became more and more frequent with the workstations in their Python course. I contacted support a week ago, they have not helped me at all. I have sent follow up emails every other day with screen shots. In addition to their workstations not functioning, and their poor technical and customer support, their lessons keep asking us to complete tasks before they have taught us how to do them. This is frustrating to say the least. As a teacher with 25 years of experience, this is just poor lesson planning.

I am enrolled in the Data Science Nanodegree and I am truly learning a lot! The combination of video tutorials, exercises and assignments makes the course divers and keeps the motivation up. I am impressed that the course comprises so many different facets and topics in Data Science.

I've only just done the first two lessons, but so far the experience has been been enjoyable for me. I feel as if I'm learning quite a bit about how to learn the tools while also being able to learn on my own as well.Having just completed the first project, it was very informative and challenging for me. I got great feedback from the evaluators and clear instructions on what I needed to improve.

It was awasome, I had no idea about pandas library but when I took the panda's course it became simple and I finished the project easily. It was a bit hard find the blog post idea but write it isn't that hard.I hope all left projects will be like this.

I enrolled in data science course as data Science is one of the top trending technology of the era and data science has stretched its roots deep down in the corporate industry. Due to this vast inference, new age learners and working professionals are keen to learn this technology. To curb this, various online data science courses are available through which one can master data science and begin career as a data scientist. Cordially i was looking for career change do I enrolled for the course.

The course was well designed and structured. I was learning with the same tools I am now using in my workplace. I was hired in Spain two months before being graduated. Great content, good attention to the student and nice fitting to real industry needs. 100% advisable.

The program was full of amazing challenges and projects, the content was thorough and the mentors were very cooperative, Despite the projects being quite challenging, with the guidance of mentors they were completed with ease, the course was designed in such a way that one would not only get good at ML ,DS but also become a good software developer too.

Udacity's Data Science course is affordable and yet provides great content. The course can be challenging and some prior knowledge of coding is needed. At times, the help is not expedient and you get what you pay for. Sometimes you may run into a code example that the tutors cannot figure out.

I started learning with Udacity about 2 years ago. Back then I was a business analyst interested in becoming a data scientist. So I decided to take the data scientist nanodegree. It came out to be an excellent program for those who want to start a career in data science: the first term is focused on machine learning and the second one covers even more helpful and important topics. Thanks to this nanodegree I started to write articles and deploying my models with simple web apps. I started to build my own portfolio.
Udacity also offers scholarship opportunities. Those are incredible. Participation in Secure and Private AI Scolarship with Facebook helped me to connect to brilliant scholars from all over the world and start participation in own open source project.
Today I am working as a Data Scientist in one of the most famous IT companies in Silicon Valley. This is the best job I ever had. I want to thank Udacity for helping me to change my whole life :)

I attended both terms of Udacity Data Science Nanodegree. Compored to other e-learning platforms, I was surprised by the huge great amount of contents, as well as their quality. The first part of the course was mainly related to machine learning algorithms, the second part to software engineering and developer best practices. Both theoretical and practical aspects are well explained ann each project allows you to apply what you have learned in a very useful way.
It is a very job-oriented course, it helped me a lot in terms of data science skills that I applied in may day-by-day activities. I can only suggest those who want to start their career as data scientist to apply to this wonderful nanodegree!
