Pivoting into a new career!

Completing the Data Science and Artificial Intelligence Bootcamp with IOD was a transformative step in my professional journey. With a multidisciplinary background spanning Law, Psychology, and the Medical Device Industry, I was seeking a program to provide me with the technical and analytical skills needed to pivot into a new career. I gained hands-on experience in mathematics, statistics, Python programming, exploratory data analysis, databases and APIs, supervised and unsupervised machine learning, deep learning, cloud computing, and deployment strategies. Thank you:)

Progressive , Engaging, & Challenging

I have a background in Accounting so I enjoyed studying this new field at a smaller school, it allows for a lower student to teacher ratio, giving everyone more confidence when asking questions, engage in group activities, and opportunities for one-on-one time with the professors.

Broad Skills, Supportive, and Intensive Learning

I recently completed the 12-week Data Science and Artificial Intelligence Bootcamp with the Institute of Data.
At the start of the program, I was quite apprehensive and stressed about diving into such an intensive course. However, student services and my trainers, Chaitanya & Isabelle were incredibly supportive, providing positive reassurance that helped elevate my concerns. Their encouragement made a significant difference in my confidence and ability to tackle the coursework.
The curriculum is robust, covering essential foundations in Python, machine learning, and other key areas, such as soft skills (critical thinking, presenting, documentation). It's a comprehensive overview that serves as a jack of all trades, master of none. This broad approach is perfect for those looking to gain a wide range of skills in a short period. Be prepared, though—the course moves at a rapid pace. It’s definitely a case of what you put in is what you get out.I would recommend completing the pre-course work in plenty of time to alleviate stress. This preparation will help you start the boot camp on the right foot and keep up with the fast-paced learning environment. Additionally, a laptop with at least 8GB of RAM or higher is essential for the course. For the final capstone project, I highly recommend sourcing a data set as early as possible to give yourself ample time to work on it.
By the end of the course, I was very pleased with what I had achieved and how far I had come. The progress I made in just 12 weeks was beyond my expectations.
While I am still in the process of securing a full-time data role, I can't comment extensively on job prospects after the course. However, I can say that the job outcomes team is very friendly and provide a wealth of resources.
Overall, I would say the course is a good introduction, but please manage your expectations when it comes to transitioning to the field of data science and AI and job prospects. .

Good first step into IT

I had a very good experience at Institute of Data learning the Data Science and AI course. The trainers are very good at explaining difficult concepts and are very approachable when I got confused regarding certain difficult topics. I learnt a lot from the course content within 3 months, and I came out of it with a project to showcase to future employees. Some of the Data Science exercises had oddly worded questions that I couldn't understand but luckily my trainers could explain it well. The job outcomes programme people are very helpful, you could do CV and cover letter review, and practice interview questions which I very much needed. I did wish we could dive deeper into the data analytics section (eg. using Power BI or Tableau) and the deep learning section of the course but understandably we couldn't because of the 3 month short course. Great overall 4.5/5 would recommend the course!
