Data Engineering

I had such great a experience learning from Data Stack Academy. Par and Alma are very flexible and supportive. The course was really fun. I was able to learn a lot of things, not just programming but also tips for interviewing and job searching. 

Personalized, structured instructional materials delivered by  knowledgeable, thoughtful, and engaged teachers. The course material accommodates those with no programming experience, but would be suitable for anyone at or around a beginner level. Technologies covered include Python, SQL, DBT, Airflow, and the Google Cloud Platform. The specifics may change week to week based on feedback from the students. No job placement is provided, though they do have internship placement. I would recommend this program if you would like help getting an internship and are concerned about your self-discipline and self-learning abilities -- it is a lot to dedicate yourself to this stuff for almost half a year without experts to consult and without an external structure helping you stay consistent.

I attended the October 2022 cohort at Data Stack Academy. Parham and Alma provide a great curriculum and make sure no one is left behind. You can tell how much they care about the futures of their students. Not only will you learn a great foundation in technologies to give you what it takes to be a data engineer, you will develop the skills you need to continue that learning by taking on new technologies and navigating them with ease. I come from a background that is not tech and with no degree. I left the program feeling competent and ready to apply for jobs. I am so glad that I chose to attend this program and I am grateful for the mentors that I got along the way.

Data Stack Academy provides a comprehensive curriculum that covers the essential skills required for a career in data engineering, including database management, data warehousing, and ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) processes. The program is designed to provide a hands-on learning experience, allowing students to gain practical experience working with real-world data sets.
One of the most impressive aspects of this bootcamp is the high level of support provided to students. The instructors are experienced data engineers who are dedicated to helping students succeed. In addition, the program includes mentorship opportunities, career coaching, and job placement assistance. This level of support is especially beneficial for individuals who are transitioning from unrelated fields and may not have previous experience in technology or data engineering.

Coming from a non-tech background, I found the DSA curriculum to be both approachable and even fun! There were a lot of opportunities for one-on-one instruction, and a daily lecture format which really helped cement my understanding of the material. We also had weekly code reviews on Fridays, as well as multiple weeks where we got the opportunity to do larger projects which was great to help build a portfolio. I am still in the process of job hunting, but feel incredibly prepared to move into the industry with the knowledge base I gained!

Data Stack Academy was a very rewarding and enjoyable experience for me. I entered this course coming from a sports background, with very little programming knowledge, and as someone who avoids school. It was intimidating learning so many skills, but the instructors were very patient with helping me and made it a more comfortable learning environment. The projects were my favorite part, and I like how they weren't graded on an A+ or D- scale, but a "does it fit this criteria" basis. In the end I finished the curriculum much more confident and able to be a good asset applying my skills at my internship!
