Co.Lab Software Developer Bootcamp

During my time as a software developer at colab, I learned how to work in a cross-functional team to build an application that was scalable on different devices ranging from android, ios, and desktops. I have learned that taking an idea from the ideation stage depends on how effectively a team can communicate and share ideas to develop an MVP. It was really fun taking part in the implementation/brainstorming of ideas with the product manager, designer, and developer.

I learned so much during these 8 weeks in co.lab, especially as a developer on my team. The program support was excellent, my mentor was awesome and my team(cross-functional) were the best.

Co.Lab was such an experience, you get to work on a team to ship a product from concept to deployment. You gain experience working with a cross-functional team, grow your network and meet other techies, and a better understanding of product-building fundamentals, processes, and frameworks. This program helped me gain experience similar to what working in a real tech environment was like and an extra project under my belt.

This is one of the best Bootcamps I have completed regarding real world software development experience, team work, software development life cycle and learning resources provided. The bootcamp is organised in the best way to support people falling in the lack of experience deadlock to break through and deliver real world products. After the bootcamp, I was able to identify my faults which I have done before in software development. Technical skills can be useless most of the times if they are not backed by professional, soft and other useful non-technical skillset. Through the Co.Lab 2-months program, I was able to gain extensive knowledge on real MVP product ideation, building as well as shipping the MVP product. I was also able to earn vast skillset on team building and collaboration, time management, proactivity, hard work, being organized as well as commitment. Coming directly form online tutorials, this was a great first hand experience of how to apply my knowledge to real life projects with a cross-functional team. It also taught me a lot of the practical skills needed for building my career and built my confidence to put myself out there and interact with my community. At Co.Lab I worked with a talented cross-functional team to build a product from the ground up! As someone who received their background in tech through a coding boot camp, upon graduation one of my main goals was to gain experience in the tech industry through developing new products.  During my time at Co.Lab, I was able to partake in and witness both the rudimentary and final stages of developers, product managers, and designers all working together to assemble a product right up until its shipment.  Moreover, Co.Lab  provides you with the opportunity to strengthen both your networking and heuristic skills through events and workshops that are geared toward giving you a greater understanding of the tech industry in itself. To provide you with the utmost experience the program even facilitates its very own demo day where you get to showcase your product to judges from many companies and receive valuable feedback on your work. Overall, Co.Lab, is a great transitional program especially for people who just got out of bootcamp or those who have some coding skills, that want to have experience working in a multidisciplinary team before getting a job in tech.
