Glad I went!

I really enjoyed my time at Covalence.  The videos were very well done, and the labs did a good job of assessing my knowledge of the material.  I can’t say enough good things about the instructors.  They let me know (literally every day) they were available for any questions I had.  They made sure I knew the fundamentals and were positive and encouraging when I was having difficulty with some concept.  They were instrumental in helping me set expectations for implementing features in projects, completing projects, and all throughout the job search experience.  I felt I was well prepared for searching for jobs, and was hired within a few months.

Incredible value for aspiring developers (an ideal investment to kickstart a future-proof career transition)

Covalence Cataylst program is one of the best investments I've made in my education and career. That may be a bold statement, but I'll explain why in just a moment.As someone who spent over 6 years in the mechanical engineering industry followed by a season in entrepreneurship, Covalence made the most sense for me after a post-pandemic career change.Here are my reasons why I recommend Covalence to any aspiring developer or anyone looking to make a career transition into software development.1. Cost, Time, and Skills:You may already know the standard model of education is broken.Covalence offers a cutting-edge curriculum that provides real practical skills you can use to build real things...not theory or useless info you'll never use.When it comes to cost and time, the Catalyst program is extremely reasonable compared to a University program which often has an inflated curriculum (and can cost 4+ years and tens of thousands of dollars).If you work hard and apply what you learn from Catalyst, you can definitely land an opportunity making as much or even more than college graduate(in less time too). For someone who is committed and can dedicate time to learn, Catalyst can help you get up an running in less than 1 year.2. Curriculum:The Catalyst program was very organized and each section built on the previous. The program did a great job of covering all areas of full stack development and a variety of modern in demand technologies.As someone with very little programming experience, the program was manageable and there was always support when needed.All the skills learned throughout the program come together nicely in a final project which can be used in other projects.3. Instructors and Community:This was the most impressive part of the Catalyst program that made the biggest impact on my experience and career growth.Not only was the learning fun, I actually looked forward to webinars each day. Andrew and Luke both went above and beyond to clarify any challenging concepts. The instructors were very patient and always made time to help me understand the material.I also enjoyed making friends and connecting with other developers on a similar journey.4. Job Prep:After graduation, the instructors did a great job making time for leetcode prep as well as portfolio project development support. The job search process was challenging, but having continued support from the instructors and community was super helpful!Conclusion:In summary, I love what Covalence is offering by providing students with real practical and applicable future proof job skills.If you are looking for a coding bootcamp to take your skills and career to the next level, the Catalyst program will prepare you for the development world. You will not be disappointed.

Covalence is top notch!

If you do not have software experience and you want to learn how to code, this is the program for you!  If you have experience and want to continue your learning, this program is for you.  The full time program is a lot of work...you have to put in the time and the effort to learn.  The content and course work builds upon itself seamlessly, and the instructors are there for you every step of the way.

Coding Bootcamp

I heard about Covalence through a colleague when I was trying to make a career change. I did not know too much about software development but it sounded interesting so I decided to give it a shot. Covalence provided a great jump start to my new career. I enjoyed Covalence so much that I am now enrolled in a Computer Science graduate school program. My instructor was accommodating with my work schedule and you could tell he wanted you to do well if you put in the work. Small class size was beneficial due to I was able to get a lot of one on one time with the instructor. But I do think if the class size was bigger we could have gotten a better feel for working as a team on projects (but really majority of the course is you learning concepts so this is not that big of a deal).

Students == Customers

My courses instructor (who was very good) has since left the program and his presence was one of the few good things I have to say about Covalence.  After multiple attempts to stay in contact with Covalence after completing my course, they stopped responding and provided no help finding a job.

Best Decision of my life

I started going to Covalence a little over 3 months ago. I initially enrolled in the self-guided plan (Molecular) that offered instructor support via phone, Skype, and  the Discord channel. When they rolled the Catalyst out I decided to go ahead and jump in that. I want to mention I only did this because I liked the idea of being able to go full time which is perfect since i'm currently in college and can finish before I go back. I am currently waiting to start the Catalyst, and I couldn't be more excited! The wonderful people at Covalence will always take swift and efficient measures to make sure you get the help you need. They also are open to listening to the students to ensure their product is properly able to engage us and help us learn.  The instructors literally hand build most of the applications we use and because of that, they are able to change and adapt the platform at a moments notice to make it better for the whole community. If you are concerned that the program is only offered online do not let this deter you from them. I have honestly never seen a more efficient method of learning online than the unique way they have set up their curriculum. Let me tell you I have taken a lot of online courses. Interacting with the team at Covalence with their customized online infrastructure is arguably quicker and more efficient than doing so in person, in a lot of cases. They offer career services, I can't speak on that part too much yet because I'm not done with the program, but I have no doubt it will be of the same high quality just like everything else they offer.

Online Content

I started the course a few weeks ago, and I'm pleasantly surprised. I've been through a bunch of different online options, and I learned some concepts. They were good teachers, but the structure of this online course makes you learn the material at a deeper level. You get labs that you have to complete before moving on, and they aren't guided. You actually create projects locally and push them to GitHub which I like since it builds my portfolio.

Also, the community is great. You are put in a channel with the other classes that are in person as well. There are several hundred people active and the conversations range from coding to cats.

I'm still going through the course, but it is working for me. I am learning at a level I never have before, and I highly recommend it.

I did the Molecular plan so that I get 1:1 support and career services.
