(1) Full Stack Developer Track (Break Into Tech + Get Hired Program)

I enjoy the courses so far. I love how it’s a mixture of videos, readings, quizzes, and hands on practice. I feel it helps me retain the information better. I also love how they have mentors and a slack community to connect with and have resources to help you with getting ready for landing a job in tech.

SkillCrush has been a perfect fit for me.   It's been quite a few years since I programmed but I always found programming to be challenging and creative.  When I realized that so much was available on line for free I was very excited to update my skills and switch back to a tech career.  I took a few free(donations always encouraged) courses at various sites.  The classes were all informative and did a great job of teaching what they intended.  But  when I tried to actually program on my own there were so many gaps in what I had learned. To transform that knowledge into a working product or portfolio would take learning something else.  For example, I had taken some classes on HTML, CSS, Python and SQL but they were all taught completely on the school's website.  I didn't learn about editors at all.  So then I had to learn about how to use an editor.  Sure that is easy, but it's a step I hadn't considered.  Then if I wanted to show my work, I needed a place to host it but suggestions for that were not discussed anywhere.  And yes, all these various courses were interesting but how do I integrate everything into a product?  The classes were all set up as stand alone learning so none of the challenges were integrated.  As the months went by (learning for a couple hours every day) it felt like I was not getting anywhere and it was very overwhelming.  SkillCrush arranges the classes in a path related to career end goals.  Along the way there are projects with the goal of having a portfolio to present for employment.  As you learn more content in more difficult courses and other languages, the projects incorporate all the classes.  Suggestions for additional resourses, ways to build your resume, and ways to get a job are added into the course structures.  Professionals suggest actual tools and their favorite features. Taking the time to use all the resourses is encouraged to get the most out of the program. The classes are self paced but there are human teachers and a student community to help with answering questions and guiding you.  And the interaction with teachers can be zoom and calls, not just email.  After you finish all of the courses, there is a hiring portion to help you with writing a resume and there are mock interviews with professionals from the tech field.  All of this is available for less than the cost of two Community College courses.I hope to come back and add to this review after I use the job assistance part of this program.

The coding bootcamp at SkillCrush was amazing! I had fun while learning...so cliche' but I actually did and still do. I enjoyed the bootcamp so much that I decided to take the Full Stack course. I like the different ways of learning that are expressed through out the course. First visual and auditory learning and then hands on learning. Also there are an abundance of resources to help you along the way from the instructors, to the SkillCrush community, to the live Q&As sessions, you will never be along on this journey!!I haven't gotten to the job placement portion but I'm anticipating that SkillCrush will also be a big help with this aspect as well...looking forward to it!!

Skillcrush provides just the right amount of support a student needs while learning.  All of the information is provided in a detailed, sequential order with ample opportunities to practice skills.  I loved the projects and felt supported by the staff to push the limits of each project in order to further my learning.  The staff members are knowledgeable, kind and so supportive. I felt 100% ready to apply for jobs with the knowledge and experience I gained at Skillcrush.  

The classes so far have been thoughtfully planned and developed to make the learning process enjoyable. The topics are presented in a logical order that builds progressively but allows for someone to set their own pace effectively. I'm looking forward to the rest of the classes.

Skillcrush is a well thought out program for learning to code.  It is very accessible for those new to coding and the classes are fun and keep you motivated.  The way it is structured makes learning to code not as overwhelming as it could be.  Each part of the process is explained well and students are given relevant exercises to practice any new skills.  Projects towards the end of each course bring all the learning together and provide a sense of accomplishment.   There is a lot of support within the lessons but also from tutors and the Skillcrush student community.  The online learning environment also makes very flexible.  I would highly recommend this course for those looking to study coding.

I’m only a few days (but one entire course) into Skillcrush’s Break Into Tech program, but I’m very much impressed. The lessons are clear and everything in the videos is reinforced in readings and through the quizzes and projects. I’ve taken free HTML and CSS courses before but this one compels me to keep going. 

Skillcrush has been nothing short of amazing. From the very beginning, I felt like I was in good hands. It was pretty scary hoping into learning a new skill and Skillcrush has helped me to grasp on to new skills pretty easily AND all of the course materials have been extremely helpful. I can honestly say that I’m learning new skills and retaining the information. I would definitely recommend Skillcrush in the future!
